The Enemy’s Kryptonite: Why We Should Be Pursuing Peace

Peace and trust are like an encoded message that the enemy cannot decipher.

We are standing in the midst of a nation that is gripped in fear, rage, pain, and exposure. Everything that can be shaken is being shaken. Our very roots are being shaken as chaos fills our cities and streets.

So, how do we— the body of Christ— position ourselves and navigate these perilous times? I spend the past week asking the Lord and even talking with trusted friends about this very thing. Though I only “see in part,” I would like to submit to you my part.

One of the things that the Lord clearly reminded me of was of a vision that I had over twenty years ago where I was taken over a particular nation that was in great turmoil. This nation was not only experiencing a shaking but it was also very known for worshipping idols (burning incense to man-made statues, making offerings to carved images, etc.). In my vision, I was taken above this nation and I saw what I can only describe as the scent of fear, idolatry, anger, pain, and the worship of false gods attracted demons to gather in what looked like a “feeding frenzy.” The demonic activity over this nation was being fed by the emotional reactions and the works of men and women enslaved to serve images that demand a cost yet give nothing in return.

Then, in this vision (encounter), I was taken to the solution. I saw the believers in this nation raising up the standard of the “fear of the Lord.” What that looked like was a posture of abiding trust, becoming still in perfect peace, persevering in prayer, and being devoted to the worship of Jesus alone! As the believers engaged in this it released a fragrance or perfume in the atmosphere over this nation of “the scent of Heaven.” Suddenly the demons began to flee in absolute anguish as the scent of Christ’s body was released. It was a “repelling scent to the forces of hell.” The other thing that happened in this encounter was that as the beautiful fragrance of the bride filled the atmosphere it caused angels to rush and gather to the scent. It strengthened them and they fed upon the peace, the trust, the prayers of faith, and the worship. It strengthened them to be victorious in battling the powers and principalities that were keeping nations and people captive. I watched this nation change through the remnant of God’s people shifting the atmosphere that became like kryptonite to the enemy and his demons.

The second thing that the Lord reminded me of was that He has always told me these words,

“Kathi, peace and the stillness of abiding trust is absolute confusion and chaos to the enemy!”

Peace and trust are like an encoded message that the enemy cannot decipher. It also releases chaos and fear into the enemy’s camp like no other thing. The peace of God causes confusion and chaos to come upon the enemy’s plans!

There will be assignments that will be given to many at this time. Some of you will be called to the public squares in cities as reformers. Some of you will be called to the secret place of prayer. Some of you will be called to serve on mountains of influence that need to be redeemed and some of you will be called to release the sound of worship. Whatever the call, the assignment or the place…do it from the place of perfect peace and abiding trust. This posture will become the promise of Psalm 91 over you and it will be a weapon like no other.

Whether you are going out to the streets or closing yourself into your prayer closet; this is a time to “be still and know that He is God!” The stillness of peace and trust will make room for Him to move!

This truly is a “not by might, nor by power but by His Spirit” time in history! Sometimes our silence and stillness that comes from absolute trust deafen the noise and calms the storm more than anything else. What did Jesus do in the storm? He slept in perfect peace knowing that His Father would not let anything happen to him.

You may raise your voice in worship and truth, but there is a stillness and silent trust that will establish far more than anything else we can offer at this time. If fear and chaos have filled your heart and mind— this is the time to ask the Spirit of the Lord to deliver you from the atmosphere and influence of this world and to usher you into the unshakable Kingdom of His dear Son. Peace and trust will clothe you with a stillness that confounds the enemy and gives you strength.

“Be still and know that I am God! I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
