The abundance of God comes in many ways, not only in money. We can be very rich in His love, which is worth much more than a piece of silver or gold.
Joseph keeps having the steward of his house bless his brothers saying, “Fill the men’s sacks with as much food as they can carry, and put each man’s silver in the mouth of his sack.” Then put my cup, the silver one, in the mouth of the youngest one’s sack.” (Genesis 44: 2)
Joseph is trying to set up having Benjamin retained with him, as his slave, by having his own silver cup placed into his sack. He wants them to be accused of stealing.
Was he longing to reconnect with his family; or was he repaying evil for evil because of what they did to him as a young boy? Remember they sold him into slavery and told their father, Jacob, he was dead.
- Let God take care of those who have hurt or harmed you. He saw your tears throughout the ordeal.
God saw Joseph’s tears that he was hiding from his brothers.
- Good and evil cannot be mixed.
- Deception and deity cannot be in the same cup.
We see, that Joseph was hiding his identity from his family. Jesus was hiding his identity from two men when He came back to visit them after the resurrection on the road to Emmaus. Here’s how it went:
“As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them, but they were kept from recognizing him.(Luke 24: 16)
He leaves these two men then He joins his disciples, but they didn’t recognize him until He broke bread with them. He has said, “I am the bread of life.” (John 6: 48)
Being startled and frightened, He asks them this: “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?” (Luke 24: 38)
He was concerned about their well-being. He sits down, opens their minds to understand the scriptures, and shows them what was written.
Whatever is troubling us or causing doubt, or attacking us, make an appeal to our Divine Warrior, Jesus, asking, “Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me, fight against those who fight against me. Take up a shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid.” (Psalm 35: 1-2)
The correct response: “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.” (Psalm 35: 27)
His abundance of aid is always available. I call that continual aid and attendance. Yes, the abundance of God comes in many forms!
