Strength for the Weary, Part 5

It’s not how we begin that’s important; it’s how we finish.

Is weariness settling in as you are pouring out?  Are you always the one who is called upon to help?

We have this verse to ask God to help us with.  He says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Galatians 6: 9

How can we overcome this weariness that we feel?

  • Point #1, Don’t give up!
  • Point #2, A harvest is coming at the proper time.

A sister scripture that expounds a little further is, “My dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.  Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”  1 Corinthians 15: 58

  • Point #3, Nothing we do for the Lord will be wasted.
  • Point #4, Surrendered and complete devotion will be rewarded.
  • Point #5, Taking a break once in a while is perfectly ok.

Our friend Job from the Bible suffered much.  He was noted as being blameless and upright, who served God faithfully, yet he was tested on many levels.  The last chapter in his book said this about him, “The Lord blessed the later part of Job’s life more than the first.”  Job 42: 12

Our life in God is a book where chapters are still being written.  It’s not how we begin that’s important; it’s how we finish.

Some of us have shed many tears from the hardships of life, but sowing tears produces this:  “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.”  Psalm 126: 5

IN SUMMARY, WHAT ARE THE TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS:

  • Our latter years shall be greater than our former.
  • Keep doing good for the Lord and don’t give up.
  • If you’ve sowed in tears and sorrow, remember this:

Even when sowing is accompanied by trouble or sorrow, harvest brings forth joy.
