Are you awaiting renewed strength?
For some, it’s been a long time since they felt renewed. If you have a physical condition that is causing weariness, grab hold of this promise, “Do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18, NIV
Begin to call those struggles light and momentary. Compared to eternity, they really are temporary. I am not minimizing anyone’s struggle or physical incapacities. I am exhorting us to keep looking up and seeing ourselves soar.
- Point #1 When God calls and commissions His servants, he will supply the strength necessary for them to persevere in the face of hardships and even persecution.
- Point #2 When we focus our attention on the visible things, we lose heart.
- Point #3 When we look up and away from the impermanent appearances of this world, we gain hope.
Renewed Strength Takes Us Higher
Here’s what it looks like:
“They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 31b. NIV
A soaring eagle is a majestic sight. Moses had reached a point in his ministry where he was at the front of Mount Sinai. He then climbed up the mountain to be with God. God then instructed him to remind the Israelites, “You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.” Exodus 19: 4, NIV
God promises to bring us to Himself as we soar with Him. The first step is climbing up to meet with God. Climb up on his lap. Papa’s waiting.
Being positioned higher in Him will bring renewed strength. Within that renewed strength, we have to remember what we have seen God do in the past.
Often times that renewed strength is bringing us back to the renewal of the covenant.
As I mentioned, Moses was told by God to recall what Israel had seen. He then “Summoned all the Israelites and said to them: “Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharoah, to all his officials and to all his land. With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders.” Deuteronomy 29: 2, NIV
He then reminds them of being in the desert for forty years with their clothes and sandals not wearing out. My goodness, He fed them from the skies!
Don’t forget what God has done and what He promised. Don’t let go of hope; we were called to run.
Hope in the Lord will bring us peace as we wait. “Be still before the Lord and wait, patiently for Him…” Psalm 37: 7
WHAT CAN WE TAKE AWAY FROM THIS?
- Take a stand not to lose heart or hope.
- Recall what He did before and declare what He will do now.
- Be still and wait for His answer.
- His renewed strength takes us higher and closer.
- Before we are called to soar, we have to climb higher.
