If you are tired and weary, don’t feel beat up or defeated.
God addresses that with this encouragement, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Isaiah 40: 30-31, NIV
Whatever age you are, it doesn’t matter; all folks get tired and weary at one time or another.
If your unchanging circumstances are making you emotionally tired, we need to highlight some things and finish the next verse.
- Point #1 Learn not to keep your focus on the circumstance but on the Lord.
- Point #2 If we stumble and fall, the Lord will redirect us as we place our hope in Him.
- Point #3 He promises to renew our strength as we trust Him.
What does hope in the Lord look like?
Hope in the Lord is total trust in Him with expectancy He will move on our behalf.
If we trust Him fully, we receive our entitlement. “Those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.” Psalm 37: 11, NIV
Even if it seems like it’s taking a lifetime in our weariness, He turns to us and hears us. “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.” Psalm 40: 1, NIV
God is longing to show His grace to us. He hurts when we hurt.
“The Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion.” Isaiah 30: 18a
If we need justice in our situation, the second part of that scripture says, “The Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” Isaiah 30: 18b, NIV
Keep praying! Persistence is rewarded!
Listen to this beautiful parable about being persistent to keep on knocking:
The Parable Of The Persistent Widow
“One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.
“There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”
Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge.”
Even he rendered a just decision in the end.
So, don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
I tell you; he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?” Luke 18: 1-8, NLT
WHAT CAN WE TAKE AWAY FROM ALL OF THIS?
- Keep praying and asking.
- If you need justice, God will not delay His support of His chosen ones when they are right.
- He is not like this unjust judge, who had to be badgered until he wearied and gave in.
- We are living in times when perseverance is needed, as this widow demonstrated.
