Strength for the Weary, Part 10

As we bring our Strength For The Weary Series to a close, I want to finish with this encouragement.  If you are weary and need to see God move on your behalf, here’s a promise that I received that I want to share.  The promise is this:

There are situations in our life that only God can change.  We cannot change people or change their hearts. Only God can do that!   Separation and remaining in silence can be a good thing!  

We are also called to try and mend that gap that separates.  If agreement is not reached, or that thing is not settled, there is a way for that breach to be filled in.  It can be filled in with prayer.  

A breach is a gap in a wall, barrier, or defense.  In warfare, that breach is a place where the enemy comes in to destroy.  It’s that weak spot that can give way for a flood to occur or for a wall to come crashing down. 

When a wall is needing to be restored, if repair is not done, the inevitable shall occur.  There will be visible cracks and erosion happening already.  

What are the uses of mortar?  

• Mortar is used to bind together the bricks or stones in brick or stone masonry.
• Mortar is used to give a soft even bed between different layers of brick or stone masonry.
• Mortar is applied and smoothed out over the damage.  
• Mortar is used to fill up the spaces between bricks or stones to make walls tight.

We are told, “There is a time to tear and a time to mend; a time to be silent and a time to speak.”  Ecclesiastes 3: 7, NIV  

When mortar is used to bond bricks together, there is always a time to wait to let the wet bonding agent dry, settle, and be solidified.  

In the tearing of relationships, there are times that we must wait and allow things to settle within both parties.  

Moses was at a point of decision when he was leading the children of Israel out of Egypt.  Before him was the impossible.  The enemy was closing in on them, and God needed to move on His behalf! The people he was leading were not happy.  

Here’s how he handled this impossible situation:  “Moses answered the people, “Fear not, stand firm and you will see the salvation of the Lord, which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”  Exodus 14: 13-14, ESV

How do we know when it’s time to speak and time to be silent?  If you have tried to make repairs verbally with the other party, and it didn’t work out, give it time.  

WHAT CAN WE TAKE AWAY FROM THESE TWO ANALOGIES?  

• God knows what your battle is and has seen your attempts to bring repair.  
• If you’ve tried to smooth things out, allow the mortar time of repair, to dry and settle.  
• Wait and be silent in the process.  
• God knows the urgency you may feel; He shall bring deliverance.  
• God is able to open up communication or open up that avenue of healing to take place, just like He opened the Red Sea.  
• In the verbal attack, God sees and knows. He will vindicate (absolve).  
• In the waiting time, till the repair is settled, fill that breach in with prayer and the promises of God from His Word.  

Before we close, I want everyone to see the different verbs used with this Exodus 14: 14 promises.  Here are the diversities; let the Holy Spirit expand and speak into your specific situation.  

• “The Lord will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.” (AMP)
• “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”  (KJV)
• “The Lord will fight for you, and you won’t need to lift a finger!”  (TLB) 
•  “God will fight the battle for you. And you? You keep your mouths shut!” (MSG)
• “Yahweh is fighting for you! So be still!” (NOG)
•  “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  (NIV)
•  “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” (NLT)
• “The Eternal will fight on your behalf while you watch in silence.” (VOICE)
