Stir the Water

During these times in our world of God’s truths being twisted, canceled, and destroyed, it is time for ALL believers to stand up and speak out.

Recently I was watching The Chosen series Season 2, Episode 4, the scene tells the miracle of Jesus healing the paralytic man at the pool of Bethesda. The scene is poignant as Jesus kneels down in front of the man and asks him if he wants to be healed. This is found in John Chapter 5. Jesus performs a miracle for this man as he does get up and walks after being paralyzed for 38 years.

Sadly, the religious leaders at the time missed the point of the miracle as they placed their focus on the law of the Sabbath day. They began chastising the man for picking up his mat on this day rather than seeing the miracle that was just performed. They demanded to know who it was that performed the miracle.

Later in the scene, as the disciples and Jesus are leaving the city, they asked Jesus why He chose to heal the man on the Sabbath. Jesus says to them, “Sometimes, you’ve got to stir up the water.” Now, we know this wording is not found in scriptures. However, this scene invokes an important discussion and that was Jesus came and made some waves! He changed the course of history and today, His teachings are still being followed.

I absolutely loved this scene and the takeaway:

  1. Jesus came to this earth to shake things up. People, especially the religious leaders were so caught up in their laws and rituals that they missed seeing Jesus for who He really was!
  2. Jesus came so that we might have life more abundantly. John 10:10
  3. Believers are called to, “Stir the Water” for Christ. We are to get out of our comfort zone and step up for Him and the Kingdom of God.
  4. Most often, believers are called to make bold stands for our faith.

The question remains for each of us. Are we prepared and ready to stir the water for Christ? What is He compelling you to step up for in your faith or to stand up and speak out regarding His truths?

During these times in our world of God’s truths being twisted, canceled, and destroyed, it is time for ALL believers to stand up and speak out. We are being called to stir the water in our communities, our places of work, our schools, and yes, sometimes even in our churches.

We can no longer look the other way when God’s truths are being trampled in the mud. It is time to take back what is right and true. It is time for us to STIR THE WATER!
