Standing on the Edge

We will allow our unresolved frustrations to herd us toward the cliff edge if our hope is placed in anything apart from God.

The level of unresolved frustration over what is happening in our world is palpable. It is rising, becoming a mass of emotion that must be harnessed and led toward a healthy resolution if we are to maintain our witness of hope. As a nation, we are moving toward a place of potential conflict that could resemble the Civil War of the 1800s.

So much is happening in our world that is driving people toward the cliff edge of frustration where they see no way forward and where evil is free to express itself without restraint. As people approach a personal cliff edge and all they see is the expanse of a future without a remedy for their frustration, it can lead people to assume unhealthy conclusions about God and the Church. Those unhealthy conclusions are then used to create and justify a God-less response. Standing on that cliff edge of frustration is where the devil is allowed to take the reins of our emotions and create cultural turmoil using the frustrated ones to do his evil bidding.

We will allow our unresolved frustrations to herd us toward the cliff edge if our hope is placed in anything apart from God. Only the Lord, His word. and an understanding of His heart will give us the kind of hope that will reveal the way forward when our frustration has blinded us to the possibility of a hope-filled future.

“No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the Lord. (Proverbs 21:30). Neither can a lie remain standing that tells us the cliff edge of frustration is the end of our road of faith. The conclusion of that way of thinking wants to convince us that the only remaining option is to respond to the uncertainties of life, like the frustrated culture that surrounds us. Our frustrations will never be able to dictate our response to life if our hope is placed solely and squarely with God.
