Do we think of Kingdom function as servant leadership? Well that’s what it is! This is what Jesus meant when He said, “The greatest among you will be your servant.” (Matthew 23: 11)
Our hearts reflect His heart.
Our minds reflect His mind. This is why it’s important to take care of heart issues before we discuss how we can work and serve in His Kingdom. Here comes the question:
Are we ready to rule the dominion He has given to us? If our answer is yes, then we must know His heart or how to rule in His name.
Look around! People are in despair. We are in a time of uncertainty and instability. War, hunger, poverty, ignorance, prejudices, and suicides are prevalent in our world. In addition, there’s disease and sickness and more. Do I need to go on?
So we ask ourselves, “Is there anything good in the midst of what we see?” Yes!
The Kingdom of God is stable. It cannot be moved or removed.
God’s government is firmly established. This Kingdom is forever on eternal principles and it cannot fade away. We have dominion over this world by the Kingdom of God’s King–Jesus.
Our Place In The Kingdom
Where is God asking us to serve? For each one, it will be a unique choice. I keep being drawn to this truth:
Kingdom-minded sons and daughters are to bring those who are enslaved out of darkness so they can be free.
I kept hearing the word “enslaved” and here’s what I found in the book of Isaiah: “His own people have been robbed and plundered, enslaved, imprisoned, and trapped. They are fair game for anyone and have no one to protect them, no one to take them back home. Who will hear these lessons from the past and see the ruin that awaits you in the future?” (Isaiah 42: 22-23)
Who will open the door for those to enter in, to be protected, and to lead them home?
We must recognize that Jesus is the door. We open and close doors to enter a room to gain access to another place. Biblically, doors signify communication and agreements. If a door opens, those folks were in communication with God and others. When they are closed, they did not communicate or were not in agreement.
Are we in agreement with the Lord?
Why is Jesus standing outside the door knocking to come in?
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3: 20)
Jesus wants full access. He not only wants to be invited, but He wants to come in and chat with us, share a meal with us and communicate with us. Sharing a meal with a friend is a big thing in Biblical days and in foreign countries today. Hospitality is so important in certain cultures.
Where can we look for the enslaved? Those who are enslaved are oppressed. We are called to set the oppressed free.
Kingdom folks ask God where we are to be placed and serve.
Find a group and place to serve and pour out God’s love to these folks. We may be the only Jesus that they will ever see or encounter. God has given us gifts…It’s time for them to be stirred and activated.
Paul exhorted Timothy saying, “For this reason, I remind you to kindle anew the gift of God, which is in you…” (2 Timothy 1: 6)
Where are we to be a voice? Love on people, and watch God move and set them free. It’s time for activation!
Some of us are tired! Some were homebound because of the pandemic we were in, and have health issues already. Lord, God, kindle anew by the fire of the Holy Spirit. Ignite in us, a fresh anointing that will pour out your love, through our gifts. God, you’ve given us spiritual gifts that are lying dormant. Position us to be poured out, as you pour out. Remove the fear that has blanketed us, and caused us to be stuck. Show us the difference between using wisdom and being held bound by fear. Help us to overcome, Jesus, as you have overcome. Family members have been sick, people have died, and some are afraid.
I love the Amplified version of this verse, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” (2 Timothy 1: 7)
KINGDOM PRINCIPLE: Opening the door and letting Jesus come in lets Him rule and reign over any situation. It’s the first step in being an overcomer as He is.
