Satan’s Biggest Lies

When troubles come our way, Satan is quick to whisper in our ear, “God is not a good God.”

“…there is no truth in him (Satan). When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he. (Satan) is a liar, and the father of it.” (John 8:44)

SATAN’S BIGGEST LIES

A survey would prove the three least trusted professionals in America are politicians, the news media, and used car salesmen. The reason given for so much distrust in these professionals is their reputation for telling lies. Let me be clear…not every politician, news reporter, or used car salesman is a liar, but that’s the overall reputation they have gotten.

THE WORLD’S BIGGEST LIAR

Jesus warns us in our verse for today of the greatest liar of all. He says, “…there is no truth in him (Satan)…he is a liar and the father of it” (father of all lies). What are Satan’s biggest lies? His biggest lies are about the biggest of subjects: God. Thank God for His Word! We would not even know that Satan exists if the Word of God did not expose him. The Bible reveals and warns us throughout of our invisible, supernatural enemy, Satan. Though we can’t see him, we can certainly see where he’s been. He’s wreaking havoc and ruining people’s lives all around us.

Each of us has experienced and has been the victim of his evil work. He carries out his diabolical mission to “steal, kill and destroy” people’s lives through his deceptive lies (John 10:10).

WHAT ARE HIS BIGGEST LIES ABOUT?

As I stated, satan’s biggest lies are about the biggest subject: GOD. The very first time Satan appears in the Bible, we hear him lying to Eve about God. What were his lies to Eve about God? They should sound familiar because we’ve all heard and believed them ourselves at one time or another. Note his three lies to Eve in Gen. 3:1-5

1. God is not a good God! He’s actually saying to her in v.1, “God is just holding out on you and by not allowing you to eat of that fruit. He’s limiting your potential. He knows you’ll be like Him if you eat of the fruit! He is not a good God!”

* There’s never been anything said that is more abundantly untrue about anyone! Yet, Eve begins to doubt the goodness of God.

2. God does not care about you! He tells Eve, in essence, “God is a selfish God. His only concern is Himself. It’s all about Him!” (v.5.). What a lie!

And,

3. You cannot trust His Word! You can almost hear the “hiss” in Satan’s voice as he speaks through the serpent when he says, “Yea hath God said?” (v.1). Do you see the pattern in his lies about God? “God is not good! God doesn’t care about you! So, you certainly can trust His Word!” Sadly, Satan continues to deceive many today with these same lies about God.

HOW HE SPREADS HIS LIES

How does he get his lies out about God? First, he throws his fiery darts of doubt at our minds directly, especially when we’re about to pray. “Why waste your time praying? God doesn’t answer prayer!” He comes to our minds with negative thoughts about God. Secondly, he speaks through other people. He spoke through Peter one day to Jesus. Jesus rebuked him and said, “Get behind me, Satan!” (see Mat. 16:22-23). He speaks through fake preachers today to spread his lies about God (II Cor. 11:13-15). Be careful of the ministers you sit under and listen to! Just as God uses His people to speak His truth, Satan uses his crowd to spread his lies! Lastly, he speaks his lies through bad circumstances.

This is his most effective way to lie about God. When troubles come our way, Satan is quick to whisper in our ear, “God is not a good God, and He doesn’t care about you, or this wouldn’t have happened! You can’t trust Him!” Job suffered like no other man, and his wife gave into Satan’s lies when she told Job, “Just curse God and die?” (Job 2:9).

HOW TO OVERCOME SATAN’S LIES

The best way to expose a lie is with the TRUTH! We must combat Satan’s lies with God’s Word! The Bible says, “For the Lord is good …His TRUTH endureth to all generations (Psalm 100:5). Jesus said, “…Thy Word is TRUTH” (John 17:17). What is the truth about our wonderful God?

  1. GOD IS A GOOD GOD! “O give thanks unto the Lord; for He is GOOD (II Chronicles 16:14). “Good and upright is the Lord” (Psalm 25:8). Someone said to me the other day, “Look at all the evil in the world! And look at all the hurt and suffering because of it! I can’t believe in a God that causes all of that!” I replied, “I can’t either! You are being deceived…God doesn’t cause evil or hurt. God is a good God!” Remember, life is not always good, but God is.

*Do not equate the circumstances of this life with God’s Person.

*Never evaluate God’s character by what is happening to you at the moment.

This life is marred by the results of man’s sin. It’s not God’s fault there’s evil and suffering. It was man believing the lies of Satan that allowed his evil and suffering into the world. The results are that tragedy touches down like a tornado even in the lives of those who love and fear God.

  1. GOD CARES DEEPLY ABOUT YOU! The truth is: “He that spared not His only Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). And, “Every good and perfect gift is from above…and cometh down from the Father…” Every blessing you enjoy comes from our loving Father, who cares deeply for you and me! “Casting all our care upon Him (God) for He careth for you” (I Peter 5:7). When Satan whispers his lie that God doesn’t care, just take another look at the cross and all doubts should be erased!

  1. GOD IS FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD! A good God who loves and cares about you should assure you that He will keep His Word to you! There is a promise within God’s Word for every need that might arise in your life!  Praise the Lord!

IT’S TIME TO REFUTE SATAN’S LIES!

Has Satan come to you lately in the midst of your problems with his biggest lies? “God is not good! Look what’s happening to you! God doesn’t care about you, or this wouldn’t be happening…so why trust His Word?” Are you gonna believe his lies or God’s truth? It’s up to you! Stand against him upon these three rock-solid truths and say boldly:

“COME WHAT MAY, MY GOD IS GOOD!… AND MY GOD LOVES ME!… AND I WILL TRUST HIS WORD OF PROMISE THAT HE WILL WORK ALL THINGS TOGETHER (Good and bad) FOR MY GOOD AND HIS GLORY!

Don’t just think about it. Do It!
