I’ve been to many Conferences, Church Services, and Home Groups where The Holy Spirit begins to move, and some people get so intoxicated in the anointing, while others just don’t receive anything.
Why is it that some people are so sensitive to The Holy Spirit, and others don’t even recognize His presence?
I’m going to share how any Holy Spirit-filled believer could become more sensitive to Him, hear His voice and discern His leading.
I’ve been studying The Gifts of The Holy Spirit since the mid-80s, and I AM still fascinated by the innumerable ways that The Holy Spirit speaks.
We as believers limit God. He could speak through a Vision, a Dream, a car, a thought, or even a fly on the wall.
He could speak through a flower, a smell, a taste, a feeling, or even a sound. There is no set formula or limit in which He speaks. He could speak in any way that He pleases at any time.
The LORD created us with five natural senses. Eyes to see, ears to hear, a nose to smell, a mouth to taste, and hands to feel.
And just as we have five senses in the natural, we also have Five Spiritual Senses.
One of the ways that The Holy Spirit speaks is through our senses. As a Prophetic Seer and Visionary (not psychic), one of the most profound things that I learned was about sanctifying our spiritual senses in order to discern the Ways and Voice of The Holy Spirit.
“Who may ascend into the hill of The LORD? Or who may stand in His Joly Place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart!.” Psalm 24:3-4a.
You don’t necessarily have to be a seer or a prophet to be able to discern with your senses. Any Spirit-filled believer could train themselves according to Hebrews 5:14 which says (paraphrased) that the mature believer discerns the things of God by exercising their senses to discern both good and evil.
When you allow The Holy Spirit to sanctify your spiritual senses, that’s where you will discern or minister from. You will begin to take on the feelings of Jesus and His compassion for the people.
The Holy Spirit could speak in unusual ways. Sometimes when you are in a meeting or ministering to someone you may smell roses because you are sensing the fragrance of God.
Sometimes you could also smell (or sense) the uncleanness in an atmosphere. There are times when The LORD will allow you to feel someone’s pain emotionally or physically.
He wouldn’t show you that unless He wanted you to intercede for them, or heal them through the laying on of hands. At times you may sense the presence of angels, or even demons even in your own home.
The supernatural realm is around us at all times. When we are saved, we are under the blood Covenant of Jesus.
When we get filled with The Holy Spirit, we carry the presence of God, but we also need to take on the nature and character of Jesus.
Whoever claims to live in Him must live as Jesus did. The only way to train our spiritual senses is by spending time with Him, in worship, In His Word, and praying in the Spirit which is the language of God.
The more you pray in the Spirit, the more sensitive to Him you’ll be.
The LORD is showing me that some of you are having a difficult time getting back to the relationship that you once had with Him.
The things of the world have crept in and taken you off course. You can’t shake the heaviness around you and it seems as if a dark cloud is constantly hanging over you.
The Holy Spirit wants to take you back to the place where you will be sensitive to His presence once again.
Some of you have a spirit of fear that crept in from listening to the wrong voices. You’ve been watching television shows that are detrimental to your relationship with Jesus.
The LORD said; turn your focus back on Him and He will restore you. Some believers are connecting with the wrong people. You’ve been accustomed to their ways and no longer seek the things of God.
The LORD is calling you to return to the Covenant Relationship that you’ve once had with Him. Be a witness of His divine goodness. Not a partaker of their folly.
There are others who have things in their lives that are hindrances to hearing God’s Voice.
There are gifts that are available to you, but you need to train your spiritual senses. Our spiritual eyes and spiritual ears are gates to the supernatural realm.
We need to spend time with The LORD to know Him and discern what’s on His heart. He’s inviting those who have been spiritually dormant to come back to this higher place.
Some of you don’t even realize that you have been spiritually lulled to sleep and you are comfortable in this place of rest.
The LORD says; “Wake up o sleeper. It’s time to come out of your comfort zone and rekindle the fire that you once had.
There is a greater level that Jesus wants to bring you to. It is time for a supernatural upgrade.
As you humble yourselves before Him and seek Him in intimacy, you will be amazed at the things that He will show you in this secret place.
Come up higher!” says The LORD.
“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.” 1 Corinthians 2:14-15.
“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14.
“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2:6.
