As you enter this Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, it is a time of new beginnings, renewed faith, and breaking out of the old patterns that have hindered you so that you can embrace God’s perfect patterns and ways.
Rosh Hashanah means “Head of the Year.” It is the day that determines and sets into motion the rest of the year ahead. Just like our heads (minds, thoughts, decisions) determine our path and our actions so is it believed in the Jewish faith that this time determines the days ahead.
In 2019 I had a profound experience that began right before Rosh Hashanah when I heard the Spirit speak and say, “It’s coronation day.” I saw the Lord ask His bride to kneel before Him and He was crowning her as His Queen. I knew that it was an “Esther moment” for the church where she would begin to walk in greater authority and favor. Because of this experience, many believers throughout the world bowed before the King together to receive this coronation— the crowning of His queen.
Then, as we know— soon after Rosh Hashanah 2019 (5780), we began to hear the first reports out of China of a virus that had the name “Corona” within it; meaning crown. We paid little attention to it as it was so far from our shores and from our thoughts. But, within months it would change the entire world. I believe that the enemy is so threatened by the authority of God’s Bride that he devised a plan to stop and usurp the authority of the Ecclesia from establishing what God desired. But, as most of us know, this has severely backfired and the Church is rising up in greater global unity and authority than ever before. All I can say is, “Who can stop the Lord Almighty?”
As we approached Rosh Hashanah 2020 (September 18) I had another experience that was similar to the one I had in 2019, when the Son crowned His bride. This time I heard the words, “Coronation of the Son.” I immediately saw God’s people crowning Jesus as King of their lives, King of their nations, and King of the universe.
Days after this experience I was on a Zoom call with a few of our international family members where I shared this experience. A Messianic Jewish man (Asher Intrater) was on the call with us and he began to explain to us that a key part of Rosh Hashanah is to proclaim God as “King of the Universe.” It is a coronation proclamation.
You can enter into this “Coronation of the Son” to begin this “Head of the Year” by proclaiming these words,
“Jesus, you are the only Savior, you alone are God, you are King of my life, you are King of the Earth, you are King of the Universe and you reign forever and ever.”
As you crown the Lord, King of your life at the head of the year, you are also proclaiming that you are the “head and not the tail” because you are His bride and His queen. His reign has given you the authority to make decrees and proclamations that must be upheld. You can decree and it will be established when you do so from the place of bridal authority and from the power of His blood.
This new Hebrew year, 5781, means, “strong silence in the mouth.” To better understand what this means we can look at the blood of Jesus. Though no sound is heard, it is able to redeem, resurrect, and restore.
“You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks a better word of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.” Hebrews 12:24
The blood of Jesus— though silent— speaks a better word! It speaks and establishes forgiveness, justice, truth, and righteousness. As His blood poured down the cross and out upon the ground, it spoke of the greatest love and sacrifice that will ever be known to mankind. It declared that “whoever believes shall be saved and have eternal life!”
I believe that this year we are being called to enter into the “finished work of the cross” where the silent blood of Jesus speaks more loudly than any voice heard on earth. This silence represents an inner rest. It is a year to enter into His rest, even to strive to enter into His rest.
Though we have come out of the previous year (5780) far more aware of our weaknesses, more aware of our shortcomings, and having wrestled with God which has left us with a limp— we will come up out of this wilderness leaning upon our Beloved.
“Who is this coming up from the wilderness leaning on her beloved?” Song of Solomon 8:5
To lean upon another is to depend on them, trust in their strength, and to steady yourself with their uprightness. We are trusting in and resting in His faithfulness, goodness, righteousness, holiness, justice, mercy, and grace. We are invited to cease striving so that we know that He alone is God and King of all. Do not overly concern yourself with your weaknesses or with your limp because “the greater the limp— the greater the leaning will be.” Lean into Him (and upon Him) like never before.
As we make Christ our resting place (not merely a place to visit but a place to dwell and call “home”) then in turn we become a resting place and dwelling place for Him. Isaiah 66:1 says,
This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?”
Then it goes on to say,
My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.”
As we proclaim Jesus as King of our lives and King of the universe— we are aligning our lives for a year of blessings, favor, prosperity, and peace. Though the world rages in chaos and strife; God’s people will find rest, peace, and blessings as they live in His reign and His favor.
