For the last few days, I have been reading through the book of Revelation. In recent months, I have also been watching interviews with scientists and astrophysicists describing our cosmos and the far reaches of outer space.
This morning, I asked the Lord a silent “why” for my curiosity. The Spirit whispered that I have followed this curiosity so I would be prepared for what is coming. It seems so many of us can too easily become so overly focused on the business of the world and the affairs of this life that we limit the intervention of God to our preferred cultural dilemma. Something so much larger is afoot. New and unimagined realities will appear and shake the faith of many.
As I read through Revelation and looked into the theories of investigative science, I have entertained possibilities that a generation ago was the stuff of fantasy novels, I am hearing the Lord invite me and others to come closer to Him to prepare for what is coming.
What will transpire in the future will not be something a natural mind will be able to comprehend or categorize. At that moment the only secure place for emotional and spiritual health will be found in the One who is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End of all things, the Faithful One – Jesus Christ. Through all the events that have transpired in human history, He has remained faithful to those who call upon His name. He will do the same in the future, whatever that future may be. This is a moment of reevaluation and clarification to determine where our hope resides. When life radically and unexpectedly changes that hope will be our only remaining place of security.
