I want to share a very strong prophetic word with you that the Lord gave me recently. I believe this will be a word of encouragement and that it will also challenge many to dive in deeper with the Lord in this season. I was spending time in prayer early the other morning, just as I always do, when the Lord spoke to me and just said this, “Plumb line.” The first thing that came to mind was the scripture from Amos that references a plumb line. But I continued to seek the Lord and He began to reveal more and more of what He was saying through this simple word.
If you are unfamiliar with what a plumb line is, it is an instrument that can record water depths, act as a level, and also be used to take accurate measurements. A plumb line acts as a standard no matter how you use it. I believe what the Lord is doing at this hour is like it says in Isaiah 59:19, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” God is calling His people to rise in this hour and be as unwavering and dependable as a plumb line. The Lord is looking for those who will hold the standard of holiness and righteousness in their lives no matter what the world says or does in the coming seasons.
As I was still in prayer, the Lord gave me a vision of something I saw once when I was around a construction project. I saw unfinished sheetrock and a string being pulled back. Then as the string popped against the wall, it sprung back and a crisp, perfectly straight line of chalk was left behind. This is a perfect picture of what God is calling His people to be like in this hour. We are to be an unmovable and dependable standard for those who are lost and in need to be able to look to.
The Lord is setting a line. He has created a standard and as His people, we are to rise to meet and maintain that standard, like a plumb line. Unfortunately, many believers have a standard that is just above the world’s. Like a ship, they rise and fall along with the tides of culture and society. However, if we want to be those who advance the Kingdom of God and walk in the power and authority of Jesus then we must meet and carry His standard, not the world’s.
There are many who profess to be Christians who have no depth. They don’t pray, they aren’t spending any time in the Word of God or letting the Holy Spirit convict or speak to them. And the world is left looking at much of the church and scoffing at how broken and foolish we seem.
I believe that over the coming months, things will take place that, like a plumb line will reveal the depth or lack thereof of many in the church. The difference between those truly following Jesus and walking in His authority to advance the Kingdom of God and those just playing church will become glaringly obvious. We must allow the Bible, the Word of God, to be our standard.
In Amos 7:7-9 it says, “This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb, with a plumb line in his hand. And the Lord asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer. The high places of Isaac will be destroyed and the sanctuaries of Israel will be ruined; with my sword I will rise against the house of Jeroboam.”
The Lord was calling His people in this passage to recognize their failures and come back to His holy and righteous standard for them. He was prophesying to them so that they would see how far they had fallen from God’s guiding principles. It is the same in this hour, many have also lost their vision, lost their passion, and lost the conviction and leading of the Holy Spirit in their lives. However, let it not be said of us, my friends! Let’s fix our eyes on Jesus, and live by His standard and His word as we surrender to His Holy Spirit like never before.
I want to encourage you with this, the Lord spoke to me again just a few days after I received this plumb line word. He said, “People are about to acknowledge Me.” As I kept praying, He said, “You’re going to see things happen in the nations, in churches, and across the earth where people are going to have to acknowledge Me.” I believe this was the Lord speaking about the continued exposure of those who have turned from Him but I also believe we are about to see outbreaks of miracles, salvation, and freedom.
I think what God is about to do in earth will be so large and powerful that secular media and international news will have to acknowledge what the Lord is doing. So in this season, my friends, let your faith arise and continue to set yourself apart in holiness and purity as you pursue the Lord. We are about to see some powerful things happen and God is looking for those that will be like His plumb line in the earth in this hour!
