Who is our Living Stone? Jesus is! Peter said this, “As you come to Him, the Living Stone–rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him…” (1 Peter 1: 4)
Rejected Yet Chosen
As we read further, Peter clearly defines Jesus as chosen yet rejected. So if you’ve been rejected because of your faith, or for any other reason, God understands what rejection feels like.
He affirms us in that, “You, also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood offering sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2: 6)
You’ve may have been rejected but “The one who trusts in Him, will never be put to shame.” (1 Peter 1: 6)
To the believer, this stone is precious. To the unbeliever, the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. The Jews rejected Jesus which opened the doors for us, the Gentile, to be able to receive Him and become our cornerstone.
- Rejection can open the door for something that may have previously been off-limits.
Rejected Now Belonging
We are told, “To the chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2: 9)
Attitude Toward Authority
Does everyone like authority? Nope! But we are told to submit to it. “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men.” (1 Peter 2: 13)
When we do God’s will, living under authority, we silence the talk of ignorant men. Living showing respect always honors God. We are exhorted to, “Show proper respect to everyone. Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the King.” (1 Peter 2: 17)

Living Stone Breaks Forth And Brings Restoration
Jeremiah still confined yet hearing from the Lord, who said, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33: 3)
Jeremiah continued, “In the towns of Judah and streets of Jerusalem…there will be heard once more the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of the bride and bridegroom and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the Lord saying, “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good; His love endures forever.” (Jeremiah 33: 11)

His Name Endures Forever
There is power in the name. “Your name, O Lord, endures forever, your renown, O Lord, through all generations. For the Lord will vindicate his people, and have compassion on his servants.” (Psalm 135: 13-14)
- When our God vindicates, He upholds.
Remember this, “Because you are my help, I sing in the shadows of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.” (Psalm 64: 7-8)
- The Living Stone shall never reject His beloved.
- As a believer, that’s who you are!
