Are you needing to be delivered from a hurtful situation or from an affliction or an attack?  Our God can deliver you from anything and it’s free, just ask Him.

King David needed help as Saul was pursuing him to take his life.  Saul had sent men to even watch his house.  David cries out to God:  “Deliver me from my enemies, O God; protect me from those who rise up against me.”  (Psalm 59: 1)

Maybe your enemy is not a physical person, but there is a spiritual attack against you?  Recite this verse as David did:  “O my strength, I watch for you; you, O God are my fortress, my loving God.”  (Psalm 59: 9)  He is your strength.

In times of trouble, learn to sing.  Is this possible?  Only by the Holy Spirit, it is.  “Sing of your strength in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.”  (Psalm 59: 13)

  • In times of trouble sing; He is your fortress.
  • Worship is a form of warfare that becomes your fortress.
  • God will go before you, in this battle, and be your fortress. (Shared from Psalm 59, Paraphrased)

Even in a battle, peace and joy can be before us.  How, we ask, is this possible?   We begin to understand that all the suffering will produce something much greater in us.  Look at this promise:
We rejoice in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope will not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.”  (Romans 5: 3-5)

  • Every heartache will be used to make us stronger.
  • Hold onto hope, hope will not disappoint us.
  • Let the Holy Spirit pour His love into you.  (Shared from Romans 5, Paraphrased)

The Battles Continue.  Jonathan, Saul’s son, takes his young armor-bearer to attack the Philistines.  They secretly go, without Saul, his father, knowing.  “Then panic strikes the whole army–those in the camp and field, and those in the outposts and raiding parties–and the ground shook.  It was a panic sent by God.”  (1 Samuel 14: 15)

  • Some panics are sent by God producing shaking and trembling.
  • God intervenes in battle times, to bring deliverance.

Saul had instructed his men to join them in the battle and to bring the ark with them.  “So the Lord rescued Israel that day…”  (1 Samuel 14: 23)

  • It is God who delivers and rescues.

The army was in great distress that day because Saul had instructed the entire army to fast, not eat.

Was that wise?  I don’t think so.  No sensible commander would deprive his troops of food and energy while fighting the enemy.  God did not give this command to do so.  If He did, they would have not felt weak, faint, and distressed, they would have been strengthened.

  • A spiritual vow brings out the best in people.  Carnal vows will not produce that.
  • Spiritual battles can be won with fasting and prayer.

Jonathan did not know that his father, Saul, had bound the army under a strict oath not to eat.  He and the army entered the woods and there was honey on the ground.  Not one of the men touched the honey for they were afraid because of the vow they had made not to eat.  Jonathan puts the honey to his mouth and his eyes brightened.  He was mighty hungry!

His father finds out he ate the honey and knew he would be under oath to kill Jonathan, for breaking the oath (vow).  Saul was willing to kill his own son.  But the men rescued Jonathan and he was not put to death.

Our God rescues and delivers from our enemies, even from foolish vows.  He knows how and when to rescue and help.  If He needs to use people, he will orchestrate the entire process.  Trust Him for wisdom; for He is faithful.

He delivered an entire nation, He can deliver the one you are concerned about.  Keep asking Him to intervene.  (Shared from 1 Samuel 14, Paraphrased)
