Only Way To Live

If we don’t keep in step with the Spirit, that’s when we get out of step and out of line.

There is only one way to live life to its fullest.  How is that, we ask?   By living life through the  Spirit of God.

Holy Spirit is an amazing part of the Godhead.  Yes, He is a person.  Growing up I never knew this.  He was rarely talked about.

Truthfully, I cannot imagine life without the power of the Holy Spirit.  He is the one who leads and guides me, and who keeps me from living my life in the flesh.  “Live by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”  (Galatians 5: 16)

Why? “For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit that is contrary to the sinful nature, they are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want.”  (Galatians 5: 17)

Ok, read it again slowly if you have to.  I did!

Who wants more conflict in our lives?  If we obey the Spirit and deny our flesh, there won’t be any conflict, there will be peace.

  • The Spirit always produces good fruit.  How good?  “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”  (Galatians 5: 22)

An interesting fact is that when man was created, Adam and Eve in the garden, God told them they were, “Free to eat from any fruit tree in the garden.”  (Genesis 2: 16)

  • God intended man to be fruitful.
  • Good fruit comes from the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • Learn to eat of the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Eat of this fruit and you will never be hungry.
  • Eat of this fruit and you will never need anything more.
  • Eat of this fruit and you will feel satisfied.

All of mankind is looking to feel satisfied deep within.  Only the Spirit can fulfill and make one full!  Be full of the Spirit, the Lord has declared!

“Live by the Spirit let us keep in step with the Spirit.”  (Galatians 5: 25)

  • If we don’t keep in step with the Spirit, that’s when we get out of step and out of line.

Have you ever watched a military troop marching?  They keep in step and alignment very well. The line formation is perfected.

  • Soldiers of the Lord, we need to keep in step to complete our “army of God” call.
  • Step into your alignment and assignment and let the Spirit pour out through you.

Living To See

Ezekiel was called to see as a prophet of the Lord.  Here he was, standing by the Kebar River, among the exiles and the heavens were opened.  That place must have been an open portal of God’s glory.  The text note did indicate that this place may have been a place of prayer for the exiles.  It was, “There the hand of the Lord was upon him.”  (Ezekiel 1: 3)

  • Find that special spot or place where you meet with God.  We may see open heavens and a vision from God, too

Bring it on Lord!  Show me your glory!  Open my eyes to see more!

What did the Spirit open his eyes to?  He says, “I saw a windstorm coming out of the north–an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.  The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like the four living creatures.”  (Ezekiel 1: 4)

He goes on to describe the storm and these living creatures were in the first part of the vision.  The second part was recounting wheels and the glory of the Lord.  The common thread was “Wherever the Spirit would go, they would go and the wheels would rise along with them.”  (Ezekiel 1: 12, 20)

  • Wherever the Spirit is commissioned, angels and God’s glory will be revealed and released as they accompany Him.

Above the heads of these living creatures was, “What looked like an expanse; sparkling like ice, and awesome.”  (Ezekiel 1: 27)

The sound of the wings upon movement, was like the roaring sound of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty.”  (Ezekiel 1: 24)

Above their heads, now Ezekiel sees a “Throne of sapphire and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.”  (Ezekiel 1: 26)

His appearance was like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and brilliant light surrounded him.   Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around Him.

He’s trying his best to give detail of what he sees.  Read the entire chapter to get the full picture.  He’s describing a vision of God, but he avoids naming it as that exactly.  Yes, Ezekiel saw God in His glory.  All I can say is, “Glory!”

What was his response?  He, “Fell face down and heard of one speaking.”  (Ezekiel 1: 28)

Living To Praise

All things in creation are called to praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise you in the heights above.

Praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His Heavenly Hosts.

Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him you highest heaven and you waters above the skies.”  (Psalm 148: 1-5)

I think that includes just about all of creation.

What caught my eye was this next verse, “He set them in place for ever and ever; He gave a decree that will never pass away.”  (Psalm 148: 6)

  • When God decrees, He establishes.

One commentary shares this,  “Therefore ought the Lord to be praised because He is Preserver as well as Creator, Ruler as well as Maker.” (Spurgeon)

Yes, the Spirit of the Living God calls forth praise with glory and honor to our God!  We were called to live, live for Him.  This is the only way to live.
