Nothing Is Impossible With God

The God of the impossible makes it possible for us to carry out His purposes.

Once again, as I read the Christmas story, we can see the love of our God given to mankind.  We see the impossible, be possible!

Mary gets a visitation from Gabriel, saying, “Greetings, you who are highly favored!  The Lord is with you!  (Luke 1:  28)

  • Knowing that God is with you is the soil needed to produce a miracle seed.
  • Being highly favored helps too.

Gabriel was busy that season.  He continues saying to Mary, “You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.  The Lord God will give him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; His kingdom will never end.” (Luke 1: 31-33)

  • The seed implanted is the hope of the world.  The seed is the Word.

Just think, that seed is part of who we are in Christ as believers. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” (1 Peter 1: 23)

Mary wanted to know how this could be possible?

  • To see the impossible we must see through spiritual eyes, not natural eyes.
  • Mary saw through the eyes of wonder-filled faith.
  • Zechariah saw through the eyes of skeptical unbelief.
  • We get to choose which lens we look through.

Help me Lord with this, you know I’m nearsighted!

Ok, folks, Mary was a virgin.  She had never been in an intimate relationship with Joseph or any other man, ever!

How in the world would she be impregnated with the seed; the Greek word is sperma.  The seed of the Lord Jesus would be planted.  She was overshadowed by the power of the Holy Spirit coming upon her.

  • If God Almighty was birthing Himself in her, she had to experience Him in a very special way.
  • She was infused with the very being of Jesus, His Spirit.

The word overshadow means to cover with a cloud, as in Shekinah glory.  The same cloud they experienced in the tabernacle is the same cloud that overshadowed Mary.

Let’s think about this:  Jesus did not become the Son of God, He is called the Son of God; recognizing His nature from all eternity.

This wasn’t some magical event, but the conception of things to come!

In the account of Joseph getting his angelic visitation, informing him of Mary, the angel says, “What is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”  (Matthew 1: 20)

Today, we remember the words, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him, but God has revealed it to us by His Holy Spirit.”  (1 Corinthians 2: 9-10)

  • The Holy Spirit is what conceives (formulates, creates, develops) all things that God will prepare and reveal.

To validate that all things are possible, Gabriel says, “Even Elizabeth, your relative, is going to have a child in her old age.”  (Luke 1: 36)

  • As we testify and share what God has done in our life, it encourages and builds our faith.
  • Remember the blessings of God in your life; others need to hear of God’s faithfulness.

The Impossible Is Shared Through Women

Mary gets the news and immediately hurries off to see Elizabeth. These two women are sharing a lot.

  • Both have been implanted with the impossible.
  • Both babies inside are unified.
  • John will be the forerunner of Jesus preparing the way for Jesus.
  • Jesus will carry out God’s plan after John has made preparations.
  • Both are making preparations for the things God has planned.

The Anointing Brings Forth

What do I mean by that?  Elizabeth hears Mary’s words, her greeting, and the baby in Elizabeth’s stomach (John the Baptist) leaps in her womb, and Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit.

  • What Mary is carrying is more than just a babe.  She’s carrying the Word, (Jesus) and so much more.
  • Don’t take lightly what and who you carry as a believer.

The filling of the Holy Spirit brings forth a prophetic voice.  Elizabeth exclaims, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!  But why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished.”  (Luke 1: 42-45)

  • Believe for the impossible, and you will see His accomplished accomplish.

Shepherds And Sheep

The heart of the Shepherd says, “I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. I will search for the lost and bring back the strays.  I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong, I will destroy.  I will shepherd the flock with justice.”  (Ezekiel 34: 15-16)

Yes, the Gentle Shepherd Jesus brings the impossible ones home.  He sends forth His love to those wondering and wandering.  He brings back the strays.  He heals the injured and strengthens those who are weak.

He decrees, “You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God; declares the Sovereign God.”  (Ezekiel 34: 31)

The God Of The Impossible

He desires to, “Break the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke.”  (Isaiah 58: 6)

  • The God of the impossible makes it possible for us to carry out His purposes.

Do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spread yourselves on behalf of the hungry, and satisfy the need of the needs of the oppressed.  Then, your light will rise in the darkness and your night will become like the noonday.  (Isaiah 58: 9-10)

  • Be obsessed with helping the oppressed.

He will give us a new name, the name He holds. He’s called, “Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”  (Isaiah 58: 12)

(Shared from Isaiah 58, Modified)

He shall repair what’s been broken, and restore the dwelling places, for He’s a God of the impossible.

  • The impossible is possible with our God!  (Shared from Isaiah 58, Modified)
