Don’t you just love viewing the sunrise on a beautiful spring or summer day? Oh, this makes me so happy! Why? The rising sun reminds us of Jesus, the Light of the World.
What have we been told about the Light of the World? “Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the Light of the World: he/she that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8: 12 (Emphasis added)
Who doesn’t want to have the light of life? Jesus is our light! Light gives us direction so we can see where we are going. Light dispels the darkness. Light drives away fear. Light brings hope.
Jesus is Light who is filled with the pure radiance of God’s glory and love.
When we reach heaven, all of His glory and light will be all the sun(son) rays that we need! “Night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 22: 5
His light provides life forever. “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?” Psalm 27: 1
His life and light are available if we follow Him.
So, the question is: Do we follow Him? If you are not sure, remember when Jesus was gathering His disciples He said, “Come, follow me.” Matthew 4: 19 This is the first step.
The next step is “My father taught me, “Take my words to heart. Follow My commands, and you will live.” Proverbs 4: 4 This is the second step that we must act on.
When we follow hard, we cling. “I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.” Psalm 63: 8 This is the third and continual lifetime step that keeps us secure.
The meaning of to follow is: To come, move, or take place after another person or thing in order or time.
