“…The Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7: 14
The name “God is with us” was a promise given to convince King Ahaz, in the Old Testament, that God could rescue him from his enemies. God was so willing to strengthen the faith of Ahaz through a sign.
Yes, the prophecy was a foreshadowing of the birth of Jesus.
As we read the New Testament, we see that God appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20-21
Then the Lord continued, and said, what was prophesied years before, “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel–which means God with us.” Matthew 1:23
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said.
Whatever the Lord says, it will be fulfilled. In our life today, what He says, it will be done!
If God said it, it’s His Word, and He cannot lie. Our position is to believe it.
An interesting fact is that twelve times Matthew speaks of the Old Testament being fulfilled now in the New Testament.
What a powerful testimony to the divine origin of Scripture in its accuracy, even in small details.
Yes, Jesus, Immanuel, is with us always. The promise given to King Ahaz is still given to us today.
Are you fulfilled in your life journey? Whatever season you are in at this time, God is with you. He comes to fill and fulfill.
