Just Not That Into You

I pray the distractions that once pushed You aside

will become less important in our daily lives

and that the things we choose to fill our days

will be things that please You and bring You praise

It’s very obvious by the way that some live

that they are just not that into You

That phrase just hit me like a ton of bricks

I hurt for You, Lord; it really made me sick

The only reason to live is for You

So many people just don’t have a clue

They don’t need You at present

but they’ll surely find You when they do

Numerous distractions push You aside

There’s so many other things to do with our lives

Reading the Bible and getting to know You

is the farthest thing from so many minds

I hurt for You, Lord; I hurt for them, too

Work, errands, and activities come before You

Sunday morning service doesn’t even make the list

when shopping and sleeping in can take the place of this

I pray for repentance; this should not be the norm

You deserve to be given our time and adored

I pray that You are the lifestyle we choose

and that You are included in the things that we do

I pray the distractions that once pushed You aside

will become less important in our daily lives

and that the things we choose to fill our days

will be things that please You and bring You praise

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8

About the Author

Debbie always had a desire to write a book, but didn’t have a clue as to what the content could be. Children’s books and short stories piqued her interest most. She had dabbled with writing family-oriented poems, off and on over the years, but became overwhelmed with a hunger to write about God and His love in her late fifties. She started seeing God everywhere she looked whether it was in a deck of cards, movie titles, nursery rhymes, popular sayings, flower petals, or a baseball game. She finally realized that prophecy was being fulfilled when one of her sons told her that her poetry glorified God and was meant to be shared. The Lord’s words from an encounter in 2011 immediately returned to her. She had found her own way to speak about God just like He told her she would. Debbie is sharing her poetry in hopes that it will nourish and strengthen souls for the Kingdom of God. She refers to her poetic style as floetry, as it is the move of the Holy Spirit flowing from her heart to another. Her desire to flood the prisons with her book is due to God’s belief in her, and in her belief that no one can cast the first stone, but that everyone can help someone who is in desperate need of a Savior.
