Joe Joe Dawson: It’s Your Season to Occupy!

In order to occupy, we must realize we are in a new season and need to think and act differently to move forward!

As I have been praying recently and leaning in to hear what the Lord is saying in this season, the one word I keep hearing in my spirit is the word “occupy”. Occupy means to fill or reside in a certain place or space. When a military occupies a location during war, that army takes over a territory and begins to rule over it. I believe, now more than ever before, God is calling His people to occupy!

God has called every one of His sons and daughters to do something specific to advance the Kingdom in their sphere of influence. You are not in the geographical location you are in or alive in this hour of history for no reason. God has a unique purpose for you, and this is your season to occupy in it! The prophetic words God gives to us are clear indicators of where and what God has called each of us to occupy and rule.

In order to occupy territories and bring forth the Kingdom of God, we must die to the flesh and live in the Spirit every day of our lives. To occupy and have Kingdom dominion we must see from a Kingdom perspective. Ask the Lord in this season to give you his perspective on every area He has called you to. Your season to occupy is here!

In 2 Kings, 18 we find a young Hezekiah becoming King over Judah. He was only 25 years old, but the Bible tells us that he did right in the sight of the Lord just like His ancestor, David had done. As soon as Hezekiah became King, he went into the temple and the high places in Israel and began to tear down. He removed the high places, sacred pillars, and wooden idols that had been places of demonic idol worship in Israel for some time. He also demolished the bronze serpent Moses had made. Hezekiah knew that if he wanted to occupy as a righteous King, he could not allow the idolatry or the relics of the last season to endure. King Hezekiah knew it was a season to tear down and uproot before He could build or plant according to the word of the Lord.

Many cannot occupy the places or spaces God has called them to because of idolatry. Others cannot move forward because they cannot overcome the patterns or mindset of a previous season. In order to occupy, we must realize we are in a new season and need to think and act differently to move forward! I want to challenge you, occupy! Don’t sit back and wait for a different season to do everything God has called you to do. This is your season, and this is your hour to occupy!
