Be Willing To Learn

It is very difficult for most people to admit when they have made a mistake.

Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; cause me to understand wherein I have erred. Job 6:24

Mistakes are made by everyone at some point or another. Very few people are actually willing to be shown where they had made a mistake or to learn from their mistakes or the mistakes of others. People like to continue going down the same path that they have been on and are unwilling to learn, grow or change. All of those things take work and time, neither of which most people are willing to give up.

As Job responds to his friend’s comments, Job tells them that he is willing to be taught if they will teach him and show him how he made a mistake or did something wrong.

It is very difficult for most people to admit when they have made a mistake. It is also very difficult for most people to admit a mistake when someone else points it out. Admitting doing something wrong means a person had failed at something and is not as good as one thinks. This takes a level of humility most people do not have.

In order to become a believer and follower of Jesus, one must start with humility and admit that he has sinned against God. Knowing that one has or is doing something wrong can only be revealed by God directly, through His word, or through others led by Him.

True believers in God will be willing to be taught by God and others in any area that they have done wrong. They want to be shown what they did was wrong and given the opportunity to change. Believers must be open to the Holy Spirit in revealing areas that need to be changed and worked upon.

No matter how long you have walked with God or how far you have come along in that walk, there are areas that you can still work to improve. Open yourself up to the Holy Spirit and others to be shown where you may be making a mistake and need to change. God wants you to be the best that you can be in Christ Jesus.

This takes being willing to be taught and being willing to change. Trust God and allow Him to change your life and be what He has called you to be.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear the guidance of the Holy Spirit in your life; that you will be willing to be taught God’s way of living; that God will give you strength to change to be more like Jesus; and that you will be humble when God reveals an area of failure in your life.
