Where do we go in times of trouble? Who sustains us when we are weary? If everyone would walk away and abandon us, who would be by our side? Yes, our God would!
He says, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Hebrews 13: 5) Never means never!
“If the Lord had not been on our side when men attacked us when their anger flared against us…the raging waters would have swept us away.” (Psalm 124: 1, 3, 5)
Remember always and never forget, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 124: 8)

When We Are Deserted He’s There
Paul is giving some of his personal remarks here. He’s remembering those who deserted him. Yet, He says, “Everyone who has deserted me, may it not be held against them.” (2 Timothy 4: 16) What a guy!
How could he say that and release those who abandoned him? Only because, “The Lord stood at my side, and gave me strength so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.” (2 Timothy 4: 16)
Here’s the conclusion, “The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory for ever and ever.” (2 Timothy 4: 18)
Covenant Broken By The People
Why would anyone break covenant with our God? God speaks through Jeremiah saying, “What is my beloved doing in my temple as she works out her evil schemes with many?
- Traders were present in the house of the Lord.
God said, “When you engage in wickedness, then you rejoice. The Lord called you a thriving olive tree with fruit beautiful in form.” (Jeremiah 11: 15-16)
- The Lord grieves when His children betray Him.
Even In Complaints, He’s With Us
Jeremiah hears of those plotting against him so he takes his hurt and his questions to God asking, “Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? (Jeremiah 12: 1)
I love the transparency of this man of God. He expresses himself as we do and God answers.
God warns Jeremiah that, basically, it’s going to get worse. God in His just and loving ways, He says, “I will uproot them from their lands and I will uproot the house of Judah from among them. But after I uproot them, I will again have compassion and will bring each of them back to his own inheritance and his own country.” (Jeremiah 12: 15)
- His mercy never ends.
- His justice still reigns.
John said this in his gospel, “Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (John 18: 37)
