How To Fulfill God’s Purpose For Your Life

I understand the Lord’s thinking in choosing the same people needed to handle the tabernacle for each move. They knew exactly how to move it, set it up, and pack it up.

I have to admit that some of the chapters in the Old Testament can be a challenge to read. The first chapter of the book of Numbers is one of them. We can’t skip over them though, because there are nuggets of truth throughout the entire Bible. And it’s interesting how the Holy Spirit will bring different verses to life for each of us. Like He did with this verse for me. Make sure you give the Holy Spirit the opportunity to show you how to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

Whenever it is time for the Tabernacle to move, the Levites will take it down. And when it is time to stop, they will set it up again. But any unauthorized person who goes too near the Tabernacle must be put to death.  Numbers 1:51

A Personal Story

My wife Cindy and I were children’s evangelists for several years. We traveled to a different church each week to minister with puppets, visual stories, and plenty of music. These Kid’s Crusades involved using a lot of equipment.

At each church, we would take everything out of our vehicle at the beginning of the week. We would set it up for the duration of the crusade. Then after the final service, we packed up and put everything back in the vehicle.

I had the packing of our equipment down to a science. I knew what went into every container and where every container went in our van. Occasionally people wanted to help us pack up. I usually limited their help to carrying everything out to our vehicle at the proper time.

So picture this. As we packed up, the containers and equipment were taken off the platform and put in the middle aisle. When everything was in the aisle, I would then go to our van and people would bring things out in the order it was needed.

Why was I so particular? First, so we knew that everything was off of the platform and was packed with nothing being forgotten. Then, if it wasn’t put into the vehicle correctly, it wouldn’t all go in. There were times an audience gathered at the van saying “you’ll never get all that stuff in there.” But it always fit!

So, why did I tell you all of this? Because I understand the Lord’s thinking in choosing the same people needed to handle the tabernacle for each move. They knew exactly how to move it, set it up, and pack it up.

God’s Purpose For Your Life?

According to our verse for today, God didn’t put up with any hindrances when it came to the tabernacle. His instructions were, it was the Levites job and there were to be no helpers.

Now our kid’s crusade stuff wasn’t sacred, but it was important to us. There were times when people began to just move things. They had no idea that we had a system. This meant we had hinderers instead of helpers.

God also has a system and He likens it to the human body. 1 Corinthians 12 spells it out for us.

The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12. . . All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27.

To get a better understanding of the body of Christ, read 1 Corinthians 12. This chapter will guide you in how to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

God has a call on your life because you are a vital part of the body of Christ. He has given us skills, gifts, and talents along with the power of His Holy Spirit. What is God calling you to do?

Lord, thank you for reminding us today of how important we are in the body of Christ. Reveal to us what part we are in your body. Empower us through the Holy Spirit to fulfill our purpose for the kingdom of God.
