How Do We Live?

He has created our entire world, how could we not see Him in it?

Posted on

As a believer, how do we live?  A short and sweet answer is, by faith.  Do we live ashamed of the things of God? Paul said this:  “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it has the power of God for salvation of everyone who believes:  first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”  (Romans 1: 16)

People who are wicked, “Suppress the truth by their wickedness.”  (Romans 1: 18)

  • Light and darkness cannot mix, nor can truth and error.

We are taught that “Since creation, His eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen… so that men are without excuse.”  (Romans 1: 20)

Look at creation!  It is so beautiful! Only God can produce the peaks of mountains, and flowers bursting with fragrance, with waters flowing down from a mountain stream.  He has created our entire world, how could we not see Him in it?

God’s people knew Him, but exchanged His unique majesty for images of birds, animals, and reptiles, created by hands, as an idol god to worship.

The glory of God was exchanged for idol images.  Not only that, man has exchanged the Truth of God for a lie.  Some have worshiped and served created things, instead of praising and worshiping our Creator.

It’s time to examine what we’ve exchanged God for?

  • Jesus exchanged our sin by taking it to the cross, and then removed our sin.
  • We were guilty, now we are not guilty.
  • A divine exchange took place, in our place.  (Taken from Romans 1: 16-32, Paraphrased)

Who have we been listening to?  If we have been listening to the wrong people,  “Fear and trembling have beset me; horror, has overwhelmed me.  I said, “Oh that I had the wings of a dove!  I would fly away and be at rest.”  (Psalm 55: 6)

  • Sometimes the right people become the wrong people.

David is sharing his heart and says if it would have been an enemy, I could handle it.  The insults and plots of any enemy is somewhat bearable, but not those of a friend, who has now become a treacherous friend.

He pours his deepest emotions out, and said, “It is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship with as we walked together at the house of God.”  (Psalm 55: 13-14)  They were buddies, brothers in the Lord, sharing in the things of God.

  • A brother or sister in the Lord who comes against us hurts not only us, but also our God.
  • It always seems that those we are the closest with, hurt us the deepest.

David is still reflecting his brother’s deceptive actions, and says, “His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.”  (Psalm 55: 21)

Cast your care on the Lord, and trust in Him.  He hasn’t called us to live in that.  God sees and knows.  Light and darkness have to be separated. (Taken from Psalm 55, Paraphrased)

Samuel Called To Anoint  Saul was on a journey to find his father’s missing donkeys, so he takes his servant to help.  The servant recommends they find the seer in the city, who may tell them where to look for the donkeys since their attempts were not working.

God had told Samuel the night before to anoint him, so when Saul approaches him, he knows he’s the man. God whispers in his ear, “This is the man I spoke to you about; he will govern my people.”  (1 Samuel 9: 17)

  • In leadership, God will tell you who He has chosen.  Wait till he lets you know.

They meet and greet one another and Samuel lets Saul know that the donkeys have been found and that his father is concerned about him.  Samuel tells the servant to go on ahead for he has a message from God for Saul.

The next day, Samuel “Takes a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him saying, “Has not the Lord anointed you leader over his inheritance?”  (1 Samuel 10: 1)

  • It is the Lord who anoints and appoints.
  • He divinely places us where we need to be and when we need to be.

Saul begins to prophesy because the Lord changed his heart.   The Spirit of God came upon him and he is positioned with the known prophets.  People start asking, “Who is this?”  Is Saul among the prophets?

  • God is positioning the “once never heard of” servants to be aligned with the “known” servants.
  • He takes the unknown and makes them known.

Live for Him and you will win!  He will pull you upfront if it’s your time.  There is no need to push your way forward, God will usher you there, and you won’t need to step on anyone’s toes either!

  • A life hidden in Him, may one day be a life visible FOR Him.  (Taken from 1 Samuel 9: 1-10: 16, Paraphrased)
