Hope Secured

God shall remember His covenant as He sees the misery of His people. There is a certainty of God’s promises, but it’s up to Him when He delivers them.

Do you need hope?  Have you ever examined what an anchor on a ship looks like?  It’s large and has hooks that secure the ship beneath from being tossed back and forth.  Let’s be reminded that when an anchor is thrown from a ship it is underneath the water and not visible, yet it holds the ship in place, keeping it steady.

God’s hope is our anchor, that keeps us steady.  Here’s why:  “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.  It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.”  (Hebrews 6: 19-20)

God’s unchanging nature is made very clear.  Take hold of the hope offered to us, and be greatly encouraged.

When oppression comes, hold on to that hope.  He will anchor you.  Let hope anchor you!

Joseph had to have had this type of hope, to endure what he endured.  Even in hardship and oppression, God is with us.

The Israelites saw, “The more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.  (Exodus 1: 12)

  • Multiplication and blessing occur rapidly when we are oppressed because the God of all hope is with us.

The Hebrew women were honored by God.  How?  The King of Egypt wanted to kill all the newborn boys and let newborn baby girls live.  However, because the Egyptian midwives, “Feared God, He gave them families of their own.  (Exodus 1: 21)

  • Obedience to God will bring blessing into your life.

God shall remember His covenant as He sees the misery of His people. There is a certainty of God’s promises, but it’s up to Him when He delivers them.

Abraham waited patiently and received what was promised.” (Hebrews 6: 15)

  • God works behind the scenes and is turning things in our favor, even when we don’t feel it.

Here are some examples of that:

  • He protected Moses and placed him in the home of Pharaoh to be raised.
  • He fled to Midian, fleeing, after killing an Egyptian soldier, and met his wife.
  • He went from tending flock to be the Shepherd of God’s people.

Yet, God still remembers!  “The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out; and their cry for help, because of their slavery, went up to God.”  (Exodus 2: 23)

What happened after their groanings reached His ears?  “God heard their groaning and He remembered...So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.”  (Exodus 2: 24-25)

  • God is hearing our moans and groans, and He is concerned about us.

When we cry out, He answers:  “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.  He set my feet upon a Rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”  (Psalm 40: 1-2)

  • Keep holding on to that anchor of hope, Jesus Christ.
  • Keep standing on His promises–Your firm foundation.

( Hebrews 6: 13-20, Exodus 1: 1-2: 25, Psalm 40, Paraphrased & Modified)
