He’s Coming Back

Are we waiting for Him?  Are we ready for Him?

Posted on

Yes, one day Jesus will return for His church.  Do you believe that?  He’s coming back for His Bride, (the church) who have become His children, by faith and believing in Him.   His one sacrifice on the cross paid and made the way for my eternal home, heaven.  I didn’t earn it.  It’s totally free! For, “Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.”  (Hebrews 9: 28)

Are we waiting for Him?  Are we ready for Him?  He has taken the sin of the entire world upon Himself.  “There is no longer any sacrifice for sin.  (Hebrews 10: 18)  His death on the cross covered that.  We are forgiven–past, present, and future!

What’s written on the tablet of our hearts?  We are instructed to,  be wise,“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them on the tablet of your heart.”  (Proverbs 3: 3)

God has been working on man’s hearts since He created us.  We see Pharaoh’s heart is still unyielding, stubborn, and hard.  That man won’t budge!  He was a hard nut to crack.  “His heart was unyielding and he would not let the people go.”  (Exodus 9: 7)

  •  Hard-hearted, determined-to-rule, people, who control others, are still never out of reach for our God to touch.
  • Control is in the hearts of many people.

What are we holding on to that is difficult to let go of?  Why is our need to control, greater than our need to trust God?

  • Warning!  Refusing to listen to God, may result in significant, unnecessary loss.  “All the livestock of the Egyptians died.  (Exodus 9: 7)  God warned him of that, but he wouldn’t listen.

Read through the account of Moses and see how he goes back to Pharaoh and back to God, over and over again, with the same result, refusal to repent and listen to God. God even says to Moses, I will harden his heart.

Doesn’t that make you think that this teaching lesson is for Moses as well if God is hardening Pharaoh’s heart?  Yet,  I see the grace of God through the resistance.  I see the perseverance needed to lead, guide, and obey God’s call on his life.

How many times are we disobedient, and not listening either?  God could have wiped them off the face of the earth, He says, “But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.  (Exodus 9: 16)

  • The resistance we encounter sets us up and raises us up to proclaim His name.
  • In all the waiting, and pain, God is using it for another purpose, His purpose, not ours.

He asks, “How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me?  (Exodus 10: 3)   Then scripture says, “Then Moses turned and left.”  (Exodus 10: 6)

  • In our pursuit of people, sometimes we have to just turn and leave.
  • God may use others to get to the hearts of the stubborn.  Pharoah’s own officials said, “Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?”  (Exodus 10: 7)

Don’t wait too long, till things are ruined, to make a decision to get your heart right with God.  Let His love and His and faithfulness never leave you.   Wear it around your neck, own it, and take hold of it.  It’s a free gift!

One day, when the heavens are opened, we will see Him coming through the clouds.  For He will appear a second time, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

(Hebrews 9: 23-10: 18, Proverbs 3, Exodus 9: 1-10: 29, Modified)
