When God speaks people listen! E.F. Hutton has nothing on our God when He speaks. Remember the commercial, “When EF Hutton speaks, people listen.”
Yes, “He gave a command in the skies above and opened the doors of the heavens; He rained down manna for the people to eat. He gave them the grain of heaven.” (Psalm 78: 23-24)
- Jesus, the Bread of Life feeds us.
As if that wasn’t enough, “He rained meat down on them like dust, flying birds like sand on the seashore. He made them come down inside their camp, all around their tents.” (Psalm 78: 7-28)
Why do we doubt His great love and what He can do? He gives a command–and it is finished!

All Things Are Under His Power.
“Jesus knew that the father had put all things under His power, and that He had come from God and was returning to God.” (John 13: 3)
- Know why He came and what He came for.
- He came to restore the kingdom and to give us domain over it.
- He knew where He came from and where He was going.
Yes, all things are put under His power and command by His Word!
In His humility, Jesus wraps a towel around His waist and pours water into a basin, and begins to wash the smelly, dirty, feet of His disciples. Then He takes the towel, that is wrapped around His anointed, appointed, clean and pure body, and wipes their feet dry with the towel.
All the dirt that was on their feet, is on the towel as He shared His humility and His servanthood.
- He has washed and wiped us clean.
The Creator of the world, the anointed one, cleaned the feet of His followers. This Rabbi, Teacher, and Lord of Glory came for us. Then He instructs His disciples to go and do likewise. “No servant is greater than His master.” (John 13: 16)
- It’s His authority we walk in.
- Walking in humility is the key to releasing that authority.
Jesus said, “Whoever accepts Me, accepts the one who sent Me.” (John 13: 20)
If you haven’t already, accept Him!

If we are called to the battle, first seek the counsel of the Lord.
See God’s counsel before we accept the command from anyone else.
Ahab, king of Israel, asked Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, “Will you go with me against Ramoth Gilead? Jehoshaphat says, “I am as you are.” (2 Chronicles 18: 3-4)
- It’s always best to get God’s direction on all things, even if it seems like a good thing.
Jehoshaphat is not comfortable hearing from four hundred prophets of Israel that King Ahab recommended for them to hear from God through. They were unfaithful prophets that were not true prophets. Some Bible scholars have called them pagan prophets.
- Let the prophetic word be a confirmation of what God has already spoken to you about.
Ahab sends for Micaiah, a true prophet, that Ahab doesn’t like because “He never prophesies anything good about him, but always bad.” (2 Chronicles 18: 7) The true prophet tells them that he sees Israel scattered on the hills like sheep without a shepherd, and no master for the people. He basically foresaw King Ahab’s death. He tells them to go up to Ramoth Gilead and attack. King Ahab disguises himself and goes into battle.
The King of Aram had ordered his commanders to not fight anyone except the king of Israel. They charged toward the chariot that King Jehoshaphat is sitting in, thinking it’s Ahab, but Jehoshaphat cries out and the Lord helped him. When the chariot commanders saw it was not Ahab, they stopped pursuing them.
- When we listen to the command of the Lord, He fights our battle and reroutes the enemy.
The Lord had commanded Joshua, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 9)
Now I understand why the first law given by God was titled “The Ten Commandments.”
“Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere Him. For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded and it stood firm.” (Psalm 33: 8-9)
- There is nothing that will not be fulfilled when God gives His command.
- He is our Commander in Chief, the Captain of the Army.
“The wise in heart accept His commands.” (Proverbs 10: 8)
Those who accept His commands, He commends!
