Grasp the Love of God

The New Testament law is the writing on tablets of human hearts through the Spirit.

Have we understood how deep God’s love is?  

Have we understood how wide God’s love is?

Have we understood how long God’s love is?

Have we understood how high God’s love is?

Yes, I could have lumped this all together in one sentence, but the depth of who He is, I wanted you to see.  His love is not within measurement, as we know measurements.  “To know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3: 19)  

Are you fully satisfied where you are with God?  I know I am not!  The more I know Him, the more I want to know Him.  There is a hunger inside that always is wanting more–deeper, wider, and higher; simply more of Yeshua!

  • God allows us to draw on His resources in His love.  
  • God’s resources are unlimited and never run out.
  • He gives, “More for our asking.”

The Beauty Of Asking

“In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.”  (Ephesians 3: 12)  

  • Approach Him through the Holy Spirit. 

For through Him (Jesus), we have both access to the Father by one Spirit.”  (Ephesians 2: 18)  

  • Be confident He’s made us competent.  
  • Our competence comes from God.  

“He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant–not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills but the Spirit gives life.  (2 Corinthians 3: 4-5)

What letter was Paul talking about? 

  • The Old Testament law of God was the letter, the tablets of stone.  
  • The New Testament law is the writing on tablets of human hearts through the Spirit.

People Love Their Idols

Ezekiel was sitting in his house with the elders before him, and “The hand of the Sovereign Lord came upon him there.”  (Ezekiel 8: 1)  A divine messenger comes to him and, “The Spirit lifted him up between heaven and earth and took him to Jerusalem.”  (Ezekiel 8: 3)  

Ezekiel is then shown all the places within the temple where the love of idols is being displayed.  Some of theElders had a censor in his hand and a fragrant cloud of incense was  rising.”  (Ezekiel 8: 11)  

  • They were burning incense to foreign gods inside the temple walls. 

Ezekiel now sees God beginning to vacate the temple as His glory is moving to the door.  He says, “Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been and moved to the threshold of the temple.”  (Ezekiel 9: 3)  

The angelic beings were told to “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”  (Ezekiel 9: 4)  

  • Those without the mark were to be killed.  

 One commentary said this,  “Like the blood on the doorposts of the Israelites’ houses on the night of the Passover and the scarlet cord in Rahab’s window it was a sign of hope.” (Block) 

  • The righteous ones had been marked (protected).

The Love Of God For His Servants

May we receive this encouragement as His servants.  He tells us, “You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you.  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  (Isaiah 41: 9-10)  

  • God has your hand, saying, “Do not fear, I myself will help you.”
  • We have God’s promise of help and His love.  
  • He is upholding us.  
  • Upholding means comfort and support.
