What is truth? If we go to Webster’s dictionary, it says this: “The quality or state of being true…or a fact or belief that is accepted as true.” It’s very interesting that the dictionary uses the verb “accepted.”
Who do you know who is completely, consistently true? The only one I know who is absolutely true would be the Lord. His character and His word never change. “For the Word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does.” Psalm 33: 4
Did you notice that “Faithful” and “True” go together? It’s like they are one word. In the book of Revelation, it clearly says God’s name is Faithful And True. Revelation 19: 11
Truth of Names
Names are very important to God. All throughout the Bible, God was renaming His servants to establish a new identity. Let’s look at some of those name changes:
Abram, meaning highfather, changed to Abraham means Father of multitudes (Genesis 17:5).
Sarai, meaning my princess, changed to Sarah means Mother of nations (Genesis 17: 15).
Jacob, meaning supplanter, changed to Israel means power with God (Genesis 32: 28).
Simon meaning God has heard, changed to Peter means rock. (John 1: 42).
When God renames his children, perhaps, it was to reveal the divine plan that God would fulfill in them. By renaming His people, He is speaking truth into them and eternally marking them. When he eternally marks them, He is calling them into their destined purpose.
Think about that! When God speaks, every one of His words shall come to pass. When He eternally marks us, it’s forever! When He marks us, He is speaking forth our identity in Him. Oh, how I wish I would have identified myself in Him earlier in my life. Not looking back, just looking forward to the years that I have left in Him.
If you are not sure about your identity, or where you are going, ask God to show you where you are to be planted? He has it all figured out. All we have to do is just yield to His plan.
Plant yourself in Him and let His name, which is Truth, be your new name.
Words Are Truth
“All His words are true; all His righteous laws are eternal.” Psalm 119: 160
“I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil. I hate and abhor falsehood but I love your law.” Psalm 119: 162-163
The Truth, which is God’s law (His Word), cannot produce a falsehood. If we know that, why do we doubt His Word? This is why we shouldn’t doubt His Word:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” John 1: 1-2
Who is the Word? Jesus is! He is not only the Word, but He is grace and truth! Look at this verse that combines all three: The Word, Grace, and Truth.
Here it is: “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1: 14
Knowing this, how can we doubt Truth, Grace, and the Word? We need grace, truth, and His Word for survival! We Need Jesus!
He tried to tell us when He was here on the earth. He came down to earth to be the Word, to be Truth, and to reveal who He is! “Jesus said, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14: 6
God has always wanted to restore mankind in so many ways. He knew by sending Jesus to earth, we could be restored to Truth. Since Jesus is the Truth, and if we believed in Jesus, we would be restored to God.
The Truth, is the way, is our life. When one person can bring that much restoration, why would we reject the truth? Who wants to live a lie and be controlled by the Father of Lies–Satan himself? He has been deceiving mankind and robbing God of the restoration of mankind to the Truth–To the Truth of who we are In Him, in God!
It is the Truth that sets us free. God wants us free. Satan wants us bound.
Do you want to be free to soar or bound and restricted? We were created to be free–free indeed!
Truth and Grace In The Word
Have you ever been lied to? Remember the separation and hurt you felt afterward? Just think how Jesus feels, as The Truth and Grace, when they are not understood? When we listen to the lies of the enemy, we are preventing Jesus from being revealed and released. This will hinder the restoration process in us! You have heard it said: If we listen to a lie long enough we believe it!
Warning Given Long Ago
“Dear Children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because NO LIE COMES FROM THE TRUTH.” 1 John 2: 18-21
When we entertain lies, we entertain the antichrist spirit. The “anti” in antichrist means “against Christ.”
Since NO lie comes from the truth, how can we keep trying to merge them? They must be separated! When Jesus called us, He said, “Therefore, come out from them and be separate.” 2 Cor. 6: 17 When we are separated TO God, we then become the grace and truth TO others, as we release Him.
We were instructed, by His Spirit, to: “...Proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” Isaiah 61: 1.
“As we go...freely we have received, freely give.” Matthew 10: 7-8
It’s time to go! Our freedom is not just for us, it’s for others as well.
