If there is anything I have learned over the last 20 years of dealing with spiritual warfare, it is that when the enemy’s plans are exposed, he will retreat or reverse course.
The enemy cannot operate in the open; he hates the Light, because there’s no place for him to hide. Deception, fear, confusion, and darkness are the breeding grounds for the enemy to flourish in, but when the Light of God comes upon the scene, his plans get completely frustrated and derailed.
In 2 Kings 6:8-12, the Syrian king was extremely frustrated because Israel seemed to always have intelligence about where he was going to attack, and so all of his plans were being frustrated as the Prophet kept warning the king of Israel by the Spirit of God.
“Then the king of Israel sent to the place of which [Elisha] told and warned him; and thus he protected and saved himself there repeatedly. Therefore the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing. He called his servants and said, Will you show me who of us is for the king of Israel? One of his servants said, None, my lord O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedchamber.” 2 Kings 6:10-12
While it was a prophet who revealed those things in the Old Covenant, the Holy Spirit is able to expose every plan, agenda, tactic, and deception of the enemy to us even better than the Prophets of old did for the Israeli kings.
God is able to reveal the plans of the enemy long before he is ever able to bring them to pass. If we are operating in the Light and keep our hearts in a place of transparency, the devil has no place to hide and therefore has no place to ambush us.
“If we are operating in the Light as He (Jesus) is in the Light then we have unbroken fellowship with Him and the Blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin and guilt.” (1 John 1:7)
In that place of unbroken fellowship with the Lord, there’s no opportunity for the enemy to gain a foothold or to hide. In that place, the devil will not set foot, for if he did, his plans would be revealed immediately and his purposes frustrated, for we would see him coming from a long way off and stop him before he could do anything.
Deception always operates from a place of eschewed or obstructed vision, where things aren’t clear or visible. He likes to operate in the darkness where his actions can’t be seen or revealed.
If you really want to frustrate the enemy’s plans toward your life, start operating from a place of transparency. Not just transparency towards your relationship with God, but also with others around you, if you operate in the Light, the enemy will either stop what He’s doing or never start doing it to begin with.
It can eventually get to a place where the enemy will get so tired of being exposed that he just gives up entirely, like the King of Syria finally did.
I believe that there’s Revelation coming for every believer to be able to not only see the enemy’s plans, but also gain wisdom from God to counter them, and even nullify them entirely.
God is releasing wisdom and revelation in an unprecedented way to His people for the days that we are in. As you press into His Presence today, ask Him to expose the plans of the enemy. You may be surprised by what you see, and as a result, you may save yourself a battle you were never intended to fight in the first place.
Just remember, when you’re Seated in heavenly Places, it’s easy to see (from Heaven’s perspective) what the enemy is doing, where he currently is, and it allows you to expose the deeds of darkness!
“Take no part in and have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds and enterprises of darkness, but instead [let your lives be so in contrast as to] expose and reprove and convict them.” Ephesians 5:11
