Explaining Your Actions

Our mouthpiece can be used by spirits to hurt and offend.  Discern by what tone of speech is coming forth.

Have you ever experienced something great, beyond explaining, a God moment and folks have become critical when you shared it? Some may have even questioned the type of people you were with or cross-examined you like you were on trial.

Peter came into Jerusalem, and here come the critics!  He’s excited how the Lord moved among the Gentiles, and how he had a vision, and God spoke to him about going downstairs to meet the three men.  The Spirit then told him to go with these men, to Cornelius’s house, and speak.

Yet, all they could focus on was “You went into the house of uncircumcised men and at with them?  (Acts 11: 3)

  • Keeping the law and religious rules may keep you from truly experiencing God in His fullness.
  • Don’t argue your experience or defend yourself.

Peter tries to do that by “Explaining precisely all that happened.” (Acts 11: 4)   He begins to recount his story, sharing it all!

Here’s how they concluded:  “They had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentile repentance into life.”  (Acts 11: 18)

  • “No further objections” is a phrase used while in a court of law, and being cross-examined.
  • We must not deny the full fellowship in Christ with all believers.
  • Be gracious if someone shares their God experiences.
  • By divine action, rather than by human choice, the door will be opened for greater things in our life.  God is the divine networker.

We don’t need to kick any door open.  Wait for God to open the door.  It makes that connection with those on the other side so much sweeter.  (Shared from Acts 11: 1-18, Modified)

Words Can Wound And Sting  Our critical words can wound and sting other’s hearts.  Peter may have felt bad when his Jerusalem friends originally rejected his story.  They weren’t listening to how the Lord opened the gospel to the Gentiles, at first.

Job was being a little sarcastic to his friend because he was being wounded by their words.  He says, “How you have helped the powerless!  How you have saved the arm that is feeble!  Who has helped you utter these words?  And whose spirit spoke from your mouth?  (Job 26: 4)

  • Our mouthpiece can be used by spirits to hurt and offend.  Discern by what tone of speech is coming forth.

As Job is concluding his message to his friends, He then turns and focuses on the might and power of our God, saying, “Who then can understand the thunder of his power?  (Job 26: 14b)  (Taken from Job 26, Paraphrased)

Joshua was understanding the might of our God!  He’s taking King after King and their armies to battle and defeating every one of them.  The kings were joining together to fight against Joshua and the Israelites, but God won every battle for them.

It makes more sense to me now why God told him, over and over again from the beginning to, “Be strong and courageous.  The Lord your God will be with you everywhere you go.”  (Joshua 1: 9)   He fought a lot of battles.

He still left Gibeon alone, because of the treaty established.  Joshua defeated thirty-one kings, their land, and territory.  The conquest of Canaan was brilliantly, militarily strategized by Joshua.   He sought the Lord, and He answered.

When we look at all that God did through Joshua by taking possession of the land, it confirms that God’s plans stand firm forever.  When we align ourselves as the army of God, we are victorious.  Yet, there was still more land to be taken.

Yes, there is still more to be done, as God will move in greater ways in the last days.  (Shared from Joshua 11-12, Modified)
