Yes, we can live forever when we know and believe, and have faith in Jesus Christ. As a child, I thought, we live and then we die and that was it! My parents raised us up in a traditional church, which we attended faithfully once a week, but that was it. We never read the Bible, nor prayed openly as a family. We were introduced to religion, but not relationship.
As I got older, in my twenties, I learned there is so much more with faith in Jesus Christ. As a young teen, probably when I was about 15 or 16, I had a dream where I saw Jesus coming out of the sky on a white horse with an army behind Him. I knew the dream was significant but really didn’t have a spiritual mentor at that time. I tucked that dream away, not realizing that it was a picture of what the last book in the Bible, Revelation, speaks of.
In my early twenties, before I gave my heart and life to Jesus, I heard a man (Evangelist) on television ask this question: “If you would die today do you know for certain that you would go to heaven and have Eternal life?” I did not know for certain as a young bride that I would go to heaven. So, I did what the preacher asked; I gave my heart and life to the Lord Jesus asking Him to forgive me of my sins. May I add, I have not been the same since.
Shortly after, I received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and began growing in my faith. I was so hungry to read the Bible and be at church twice a week. Yes, there was transformation inside and out, and people noticed! I didn’t fully understand what was happening to me, but I know that my heart was on fire to serve the Lord.
To confirm my questions about heaven, I read this years later: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: and I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.” John 10: 27-28
That’s the most security I’ve ever dreamed of, for the past, present, and future. Having eternal life is God’s gift to us. He has told us that, “Everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life.” John 3: 15
I love this definition of eternal life: An infinitely high quality of life in living fellowship with God–both now and forever.
That’s what I call relationship!
