I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw this picture. It is a fact, however, that some of us may feel this way.
When I say the word “task,” this is the image that comes to mind secretly thinking, not one more thing! If it’s this bad, may I suggest to you that some of your tasks may have to be removed.
Years ago, I began prioritizing and asking the Lord which assignments were mine. Those were the ones I chose to pursue. The other ones, I dismissed or put aside for a later time.
As a believer, there is something that has been entrusted to us, a task that should be of high priority. Paul said it this way, “I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been to the Jews.” (Galatians 2: 7)
- God is at work in the ministry of the gospel to all people.
How does God complete this task? Through us, His disciples. I’m not saying this to put more pressure on you, but it should be the core of what is a priority in our lives. If Jesus is the center, all else stems from Him.
Paul shows how he and Peter once did not work together. Peter came to Antioch and Paul opposed him. Peter had begun to separate himself from the Gentiles, and many Jews followed Peter in the endeavor. Paul confronted Peter in front of many saying, “When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew.” (Galatians 2: 14)
He states, “That a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 2: 16)
- Observing the law will not get you saved.
Our faith in Jesus Christ says this, ” I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2: 20)
- Live by faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah Entrusted With A Task
Each of us has a different call and gifting in our Christian walk. Jeremiah’s call was unique and difficult. He is now speaking to the Ammonites saying, “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah, of the Ammonites; it will become a mound of ruins, and the surrounding villages will be set on fire.” (Jeremiah 49: 2)
- How would you like to get that prophetic word?
He’s now working his way down the line and talks to the Edomites. Here’s what he says, “The terror you inspire and the people of your heart have deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks, who occupy the heights of the hill. Though you build your nest as high as the eagle’s, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 49: 16)
I wonder what type of nest he was speaking about? Was it the self-exaltation and self-security they felt making them higher (like an eagle) than any other?
- There is no one higher or greater than our God.
He continues giving messages to Damascus, Kedar, and Hazor, Elam addressing their idolatry and proclaiming their destruction His final nation is Babylon, the most corrupt of them all. He says, “Babylon will be captured; Bel will be put to shame, Marduk filled with terror. These chief gods of Babylon and her images and idols are doomed.
- God is serious about us not having idols in our life that take His place.
When He commanded, “Not to have any other gods before Him,” He meant it.
“The people of Israel are oppressed and the people of Judah as well. All their captors hold them fast, refusing to let them go.” (Jeremiah 50: 34) Yet…
Yes, there is a YET… “YET, their Redeemer is strong; the Lord Almighty is His name. He will vigorously defend their cause so that he may bring rest to their land, but unrest to those who live in Babylon.” (Jeremiah 49: 34)

Entrusted With Direction
David cried, “Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserves my life.” (Psalm 143:8-11)
- It’s one step to ask for direction.
- It’s another step to do what you’ve been asked to do.
- It’s another step to be led by the Holy Spirit.
- It’s another step to do it all for His name.
To this is what we’ve been entrusted to and with. Trust in what’s been entrusted to us.
