“In Him We Live And Move And Have Our Being.” Acts 17: 28
As we look at this verse, are we seeing that it’s really all in Him, and all about Him? This has become one of my favorites! We chose this one as our graduating class scripture. It’s short, yet clearly defines what “In Him,” means.
The remaining part of the verse says, “…As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.” Paul is quoting from a famous Greek poet, to prove his point, that we are God’s offspring.
He is impressing upon them that in our God, we have our very being, our very life.
His audience in Athens, Greece, were idol worshippers. He tells them, “Do not think that the divine being is like gold or silver, or stone–an image made by man’s design and skill.” (Acts 17: 29)
Previously, he released this truth, “He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.” (Acts 17: 25)
How Should We Respond? Completely understand that the God who made the world, our personal Creator, is not part of any ancient school of philosophy. He is the one who is life and gives breath and life to all men and everything else. He is Creator, Sustainer that houses Himself in our very being, our spirit. God wants us to learn the secret of living each moment from His life and loving from His love.
