Divine Leading

There is something coming upon the church that has never occurred before.

Do you believe in divine leading?  Does God lead us to specific places to meet certain people?  Do we even ask to be led?

An angel of the Lord said to Philip, Go south to the road–the desert road–that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”  (Acts 8: 26)  This is about a 50-mile journey.

On his way, he meets an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians.  This man was on his way home from worshiping in Jerusalem, sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah out loud.

The Spirit told Philip to “Go to the chariot and stay near it.”  (Acts 8: 29)  Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard him reading.

When the Spirit leads, obey immediately.  Philip ran to the eunuch.

Philip starts up a conversation and asks the man, “Do you understand what you are reading?  (Acts 8:30)  He responds, “How can I unless someone explains it to me?  So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.”  (Acts 8: 31)

There are people looking for someone to explain the gospel to them. Ask God where they are?  He will show you. If He does, He will lead the way.  Let His Spirit lead.

Philip shares about the lamb, Jesus, being slaughtered like sheep and leads the eunuch to the Lord.  As they are traveling, they see some water and the eunuch is baptized by Philip.  “When they come up out of the water the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.”  (Acts 8: 39)

There is something about “coming up” that is highlighted here.

Philip was invited to come up…Then coming up out of the water a miracle occurred.  Philip went up in the Spirit and then appeared in another city, Azotus, which is Ashdod, one of the ancient Philistine capitals.

Apparently this eunuch was a Gentile believer.  The Bible text says, his miraculous transportation showed the urgency to bring the Gentiles to belief in Jesus.  That urgency is still there for all to believe.

There are places the Spirit wants to reveal to us and show us where to go.  “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him–but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.”(1 Corinthians 2: 9-10, 12)

Yes, there is something coming, something better.  There is something coming upon the church that has never occurred before.  The minor prophet, Zechariah has told us:

Look up and see what’s coming…”  (Zechariah 5: 5)

“Then I looked up again and saw four chariots coming...”(Zechariah 6: 1)

Philip was called up to sit in a chariot and share the risen Christ to an unsaved man.  Then the Spirit took him.  Where did the Spirit take him?  He was taken to Azotus, which is the Old Testament city Ashdod.  The name Azotus is the Greek version of the Hebrew name Ashdod, which means stronghold.

The chariots are the four winds “Who stand before the God of all the earth.  They are going out to do His work.”  (Zechariah 6: 5)

The work of the Spirit wind is to go out and blow upon the strongholds that are over nations and people.  “When the powerful horses went out, they were straining to go throughout the earth.  And he said, “Go throughout the earth!”  (Zechariah 6: 7)

Philip experienced coming up in the chariot and the wind of the Spirit blew upon an unsaved man, the eunuch, who came to the Lord, was baptized and then supernaturally released Philip to a city of strongholds.

Your voice, with the wind of the Spirit upon it, is releasing strongholds and bringing people to the Lord.  This Kingdom Winds is dispersing God-inspired works, that are formulated not by man, but by the Spirit of God that is in man, as born again, Spirit-filled believers.  The wind of the Spirit is blowing upon the earth, blowing away the lies, blowing away the chaff that has kept God’s people bound.

For God’s people shall no longer be “Blown here and there by every wind of teaching…”  (Ephesians 4: 14)    Remember, it was the wind that Jesus spoke to, to bring peace.  It was the wind of the Spirit that ignited the early church, and it shall be the wind of the Spirit, once again, that will revive the church!

This is great encouragement to God’s people because of the glorious future that awaits us!  His divine leading, by the Holy Spirit of God, will lead and guide like never before.  Yes, something’s coming, something better, much, much better!
