Developing a Kingdom Mentality

Embrace your identity in being created in the image of God.

Do we see this mandate that is upon us, His ekklesia (ecclesia), the church?  God put this mandate inside of us as His children.  Do we understand our rights and privileges as a Kingdom citizens?

When a child of God discovers their role and authority, some may see arrogance; so always let His love shine forth.  Arrogance sometimes is mistaken for confidence.

Our authority begins in the first fruit of the Holy Spirit–love!  “The fruit of the Spirit is love.”  (Galatians 5: 22)

Wherever God calls us to serve, love is the attribute that it must flow from.  Whatever we are gifted at, love must be the primary reason in our serving.   “If have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”  (1 Corinthians 13: 2)

Jesus clearly told us, “And now I will show you the most excellent way.”  (1 Corinthians 13: 1)

His Excellency, King Jesus, emanates love, for God is love.  Walking in the Spirit is walking in love; they cannot be separated.  God is love and it cannot be removed from Him, nor stripped from Him; neither should it be stripped from our character, as a Christ-follower.

We must follow the way of love.

We do not have any reason to feel ashamed or meek as a Jesus lover and follower.

  • Embrace your identity in being created in the image of God.

Jesus told us, Do not be afraid little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.”  (Luke 12: 32)

  • Learn how to give careful and confident management of a realm that we stand to inherit one day.

I was curious to see what verse comes before the “little flock,” so we are not afraid.  Here’s what that verse is:  “Seek His kingdom and these things will be added to you as well.”  (Luke 12: 31)

Prior to these verses, the entire chapter is about worrying about what treatment from authorities may occur or worrying about what will be taken from us, worrying about life and money.  These worries do plague us at times; and will challenge our trust in our God, in upcoming times.

Even in tough times, Jesus is encouraging them that they will be taken care of, not to be afraid of what lies ahead, we are His and He is ours.  He is wanting them to continue to build His Kingdom, making that a priority in their lives as His followers.

Kingdom-minded folks know that their treasure is Jesus and their hearts are with Him.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  (Luke 12: 34)  Think about the things we treasure.  Do we treasure our relationship with Jesus?  Is He the most important person in our life?  Yes, my friends, we are being challenged to prioritize our lives, making Him first!

KINGDOM PRINCIPLE:  Our treasure is Jesus; He must have all of our affection and all of our heart.
