Deeply Moved And Troubled

Whatever God leads you to, He will get you through.

What deeply moves us in Spirit?  I am learning when I am deeply moved in my spirit, it’s usually something I’m to go after.

Being deeply moved in our spirits is not just an emotional response.  It’s a place within us that meets and reaches the heart of God.

As a believer, our spirits are now regenerated by the Holy Spirit.  It’s the place where Jesus talks with us–Spirit to spirit.

Jesus goes to see Mary where Lazarus, her brother, has just died.  “When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.”  (John 11: 33)

Have you ever been troubled in your spirit that you can’t rest until you do something about what’s troubling you?  Well, maybe it’s time to arise!  It’s time to go after what you are moved in your spirit about.

Once again, deeply moved, Jesus, stands before the tomb of Lazarus and says, “Take away the stone.”  (John 11: 38)  The sisters try and tell Jesus the body will stink, he’s been there four days now.

Notice next, how Jesus petitions the Father as He prays.  “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.  I know that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”  (John 11: 41-42)

It’s a prayer model we can follow.

  • Begin with thanksgiving.
  • Proceed with expectations.
  • Know there’s a greater purpose.
  • Others will witness and believe.

The command, “Come forth,” is what has been declared over our lives as His children.  Maybe that phrase, even today, is being spoken over the body of Christ as we come forth in Him.

As soon as Lazarus arose, Jesus declared, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”  (John 11: 44)    He was wrapped in strips where his hands and feet were bound preventing him from moving.  His face had a cloth over it.

  • Don’t let your hands and feet be tied down.
  • Don’t let anyone muzzle your voice or witness.

Of course, the Pharisees got word about this miracle and they plotted to kill Jesus.  From that day on, “Jesus no longer moved about publically among the Jews.  Instead, He withdrew to a region near the desert to Ephraim, where he stayed  with his disciples.”  (John 11: 54)

  • Wisdom and discernment will teach us when it’s time to move out and time to hold back.
  • Jesus clearly discerned the right time.  (Shared from John 11: 28-57, Modified)

Though He Were Dead, Yet Shall He Live

God has a royal city and a royal people.  Jerusalem and His beloved Israel are His.  His invincible power in defense of that city and of His people has been extended to us, a holy nation, a royal priesthood.

Yes, we are, as Christians, are included in that royal inheritance umbrella of His people–Salvation first for the Jew then for the Gentile.  We were all once dead in our sin, but now alive in Him.

Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them; let all the neighboring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.  He breaks the spirit of rulers; he is feared by the kings of the earth.”  (Psalm 76: 11-12)

  • He breaks the spirits of those who are disobedient.
  •  He moves the spirits of those who are obedient. (Shared from Psalm 76, Modified)

Unfaithfulness Opens Us Up To Be Attacked

Rehoboam and all of Israel abandoned the law of the Lord, “Because they had been unfaithful to the Lord, Shishak, king of Egypt, attacked Jerusalem.  (2 Chronicles 12: 2)

Even the fortified cities were captured and came as far as Jerusalem.

The prophet Shemaiah comes to Rehoboam and says, “This is what the Lord says, You have abandoned me; therefore, I now abandon you to Shishak.”  (2 Chronicles 12: 6)

From Destruction To Deliverance

The scene changes when we humble ourselves and repent.  God loves when we come to Him and in His graciousness, He relents and withholds judgment.  After the word of the Lord, “The king and the leaders of Israel humbled themselves and said, “The Lord is just.”  (2 Chronicles 12: 6)

The Lord’s reply, “Since they humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will soon give them deliverance.”  (2 Chronicles 12: 7)

God wanted them to see the difference between serving Him and serving the kings of other lands.

  •  Choose this day, whom you will serve.

When we are moved by the hand of God, sometimes that may result in being deeply moved and troubled in our spirit.

  • Whatever God leads you to, He will get you through.

King after king, battle after battle the Lord sees, rules, and reigns over them all. “The men of Judah were victorious because they relied on the Lord the God of their fathers.”  (2 Chronicles 13: 18)

Allow the Holy Spirit to move you, learn to rely on Him; and God will bless you and bless your endeavors.
