Cut the Ties and Shut the Back Door

For some of you, the reason why you’ve been struggling coming into 2023 is that you’ve left the back door open.

I was in a time of prayer on January 25th, praying in the spirit, and the Lord began to show me a vision of a person with many things attached to them. I saw the Lord come in and begin to cut each tie that was attached to the person. I heard Him say, “I’m cutting the ties of the lies that have tied you up.”

Each weight that was around or surrounding them from above began to lift off their shoulders and their minds. I was reminded of Hebrews 12:1, which says, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

As the Lord showed me this, I felt this was a word for others. Some of you have come into this new year very heavy and weighed down. It’s time to let the Lord cut the ties of everything that’s been weighing you down and slowing your advancement. The knife He used to cut each tie represents the Word of God. The Word of God is your greatest weapon against the lies of the enemy.

The Word will cause you to triumph like Jesus did in the wilderness when he faced off with the enemy. Hebrews 4:12 NLT says, “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” As you sever the ties that have entangled you, your pace will begin to pick up. Watch the momentum pick up in February and March and the mind fog lessen as you cut ties with each lie.

Another key for the Body of Christ to keep in mind as we exit January is that we must shut the back door. In a dream this morning, I was staying over at a woman’s house where she was hosting others. I kept hearing a noise and went to see what it was. There was a storm going on outside and the wind was causing the door to open and close. I noticed a little boy walking around the backyard, looking in. The boy was dressed in a dark blue raincoat with a hood over his head. He would come in and out of the enclosed porch until I shut the door and locked it. I went back into the house and told the lady there was a little boy trying to come in her back door because the door was open but I shut and locked it.

As I prayed into the dream, even though the boy seemed innocent, I discerned the boy had a watching or monitoring spirit. The open door was giving that spirit access through the back door. To take it deeper, I also believe the boy represented the past hanging around and lurking at the back door. 1 Peter 5:8 ESV says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

For some of you coming into 2023, the reason why you’ve been struggling is that you’ve left the back door open. You’ve been entertaining past things and relationships. Although it may seem innocent enough, allowing the past in will allow the storm to come into your life. It’s time to shut the back door to your past for good and break the demonic cycles causing chaos in your life.

As you leave January, don’t leave bound. Deliverance is your portion. I declare and decree every lie and weight of the enemy is being severed off your life in Jesus’ name. I command every demon from your past trying to attach to you and come into your life again, be judge, be fire, in Jesus’ name!
