Coronavirus Gives Us An Opportunity to “Rebuild our World for the Better,” says UN Secretary General

I believe that as we’re seeing calls for this system to be put into place now, we as believers should be paying close attention and sounding the alarm to those around us.

In my recent article, The Push Towards Globalism, I discussed the general attitude we’re seeing to form some type of global governing system and set up one man to take control of it all. The bible clearly tells us there will be a one-world government set up during the tribulation. I believe that as we’re seeing calls for this system to be put into place now, we as believers should be paying close attention and sounding the alarm to those around us.

This may all sound silly at first, but consider the fact that many celebrities and officials in government have also called for a “new normal” after the pandemic or for us to rebuild this current world order for the better. We’re also seeing this slowly being mixed in with the climate change agenda as people such as Greta Thunberg has echoed the same sentiment.

I believe this “new normal” would mean rebuilding the world to their liking and according to everything we’ve been seeing rise up to the surface during this pandemic thus far, as well as what the bible says is coming, it shouldn’t take us too long to realize this new world they’re envisioning is anything but new. In fact, I’d say it’s a repackaged effort to succeed where humanity failed in Genesis 11. As the bible tells us, there’s nothing new under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9, NKJV).

Rebuild Our World for the Better

From Boston Globe: BERLIN — United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Tuesday that the Coronavirus pandemic has exposed how fragile societies are but that if governments work together on common challenges, including global warming, it can be an opportunity to “rebuild our world for the better.”

Speaking at a two-day international meeting on climate change, the UN chief said the only effective response to the worldwide health emergency is ‘‘brave, visionary, and collaborative leadership.” He urged the European Union to show “global leadership” by presenting updated emissions reduction plans by the end of the year that would put Europe on course to become the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.

But Guterres added that other big emitters also have to come on board, noting that the Group of 20 major developed and emerging economies together account for more than 80 percent of global emissions. “The Paris Agreement was largely made possible by the engagement of the United States and China,” he said, referring to a 2015 climate accord. “Without the contribution of the big emitters, all our efforts will be doomed.”

Under President Trump, the United States has moved to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, which commits to keeping global warming below 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 F) by the end of the century. “These are dark days, but they are not without hope,” Guterres said. “We have a rare and short window of opportunity to rebuild our world for the better.” Read More

A Global Problem Requires a Global Solution

From Time: During the first months of this year, we have seen once again how fragile is our global world, how great the danger of sliding into chaos. The COVID-19 pandemic is facing all countries with a common threat, and no country can cope with it alone. The immediate challenge today is to defeat this new, vicious enemy. But even today, we need to start thinking about life after it retreats.

Many are now saying the world will never be the same. But what will it be like? That depends on what lessons will be learned. I recall how in the mid-1980s, we addressed the nuclear threat. The breakthrough came when we understood that it is our common enemy, a threat to all of us.

The leaders of the Soviet Union and the U.S. declared that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. Then came Reykjavik and the first treaties eliminating nuclear weapons. But even though by now 85% of those arsenals have been destroyed, the threat is still there.

Yet other global challenges remain and have even become more urgent: poverty and inequality, the degradation of the environment, the depletion of the earth and the oceans, the migration crisis. And now, a grim reminder of another threat: diseases and epidemics that in a global, interconnected world can spread with unprecedented speed.

The response to this new challenge cannot be purely national. While it is the national governments that now bear the brunt of making difficult choices, decisions will have to be made by the entire world community. Read More

Coronavirus: “The Crisis of a lifetime”

From LifeSite News: Left-wing billionaire George Soros has indicated that the Coronavirus pandemic paves the way for societal changes previously thought impossible, calling it “the crisis of my lifetime.” Soros had lived through the Second World War as a youth.

“Even before the pandemic hit, I realized that we were in a revolutionary moment where what would be impossible or even inconceivable in normal times had become not only possible but probably absolutely necessary,” he said during an interview on May 11. Soros also said that “Europe is facing several existential dangers.” He was “particularly concerned about the survival of the EU because it is an incomplete union.”

While, according to the Hungarian-born billionaire, the European Union was “in the process of being created,” that process “was never completed.” Thus, Soros said the EU was “exceptionally vulnerable – more vulnerable than the US not just because it is an incomplete union but also because it is based on the rule of law.” Read More

Prophetic Implications

The language we often see being regularly employed usually follows along the lines of “we must come together” or that “this is for the common good.” This is being sold to us as a benefit not just for me, but for the whole of society. And as long as the Coronavirus remains a threat this rhetoric will continue and increase.

What should our reaction as believers be as we see all these things happen? This may sound strange at first, but I believe it should be joy and excitement. I am in no way minimizing what people are going through due to the pandemic but I believe that what’s currently happening is stage setting for the tribulation period. What’s been written in the bible for thousands of years is now nearing its fulfillment in our time!

As the worst period of human history draws ever so closely, we can rest in the assurance that we will be taken out of here before that time. For the believer, this should be a source of joy – not fear. For the unbeliever, this is a warning of what’s to come. God is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance,” (2 Peter 3:9, NKJV).

The signs we’ve been witnessing are signaling to mankind that the church age is drawing to a close. As it’s often said, we’re no longer looking for signs, but instead listening for the sound of the trumpet. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, now’s the time to do just that! May we continue to use each and every day we have left to preach the gospel to those around us while we’re still here. Maranatha!
