Contend For It

One of the areas where we must always contend is for that daily secret place time with God.

I was in a time of prayer recently, and as I was praying, I just kept hearing the Lord say, “Contend, contend, contend.” I’ve used and heard the word contend used many times over the years, especially in prayer. So when the Lord said this, it was not an unfamiliar word for Him to speak to me. As I continued praying, I just kept thinking about what the word contend means.

Contend means to struggle with something for an outcome that you are hoping for. So I felt the Lord lead me to get out my journal in this prayer time and to list out all the things that I am contending for right now. But as I began to look at the things I listed, I was convicted in my heart and asked myself, “Am I really, I mean really, contending for all these things?” And in some areas, the answer was yes, absolutely. However, there were several things on the list that I was not truly contending for.

I believe this is a season where God is challenging many of His people to really examine what they are or are not contending for. Many times we get comfortable in an area and complacency can set in without us being aware of it. I believe the Lord is looking for those in this season who will be those that will contend for every single thing He has placed in front of them to fight for in the spirit. What we contend for can sometimes shift from season to season. However, we need to be those with the tenacity to intercede and take ground in the spirit through prayer in every season, especially this one.

One of the areas where we must always contend is for that daily secret place time with God. The enemy will always try to keep you out of that daily prayer time because he knows how powerful it is. We can only daily die to our flesh and step into life in the spirit if we set apart that time every single day to be alone with God, get in His word and contend in prayer.

When warfare comes, you need to be one who is willing to contend in prayer for God’s will to come forth in your life. The enemy will not let you just sail on through and get your breakthrough, my friends. You will have to fight for it! In this season, learn how to contend. Learn how to fight in the place of prayer with the prophetic words God has spoken over your life and do not give up until you see them come to pass.

Many in this season need to step up and contend for their families to be saved, healed, and delivered. Many have prodigals that they need to keep contending for until you see them coming back home. Many need to contend for their kingdom assignment and prophetic promises to come forth and be manifested in this season. Some need to contend for the wealth transfer God wants them to steward. Some may need to contend for your healing or for someone you know who has a bad doctor’s report. This is your season to see healing and stand upon the report of the Lord!

Whatever it may be, contend for it and keep praying until you see it come to pass. This season is for the fighters. This is a season where God is raising up and strengthening those who will contend in the place of prayer for the Kingdom of God to be manifested in the earth as it is in Heaven. Keep pressing, keep fighting, keep praying, and keep contending until you lay hold of what God has promised you!
