Christ in You, the Hope of Glory

Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for His people, and God wants everyone to know it! Colossians 1:27 TPT

You are the hope of glory that is Christ Jesus in you (Col. 1:27). I think that we miss the depth of that sometimes. We, as believers, are the hope of glory to the world, to the person walking next to you, to the co-worker that drives you crazy, to our kids, and even to our spouses. The wonder of that mystery takes my breath away. The hope of glory lives in you and wants nothing more than to come out of you. How we move and live our day changes when we really believe that we have something inside of us that will change the world around us. It changes our ordinary day into an extraordinary day that shifts the very ground that we walk on.

Let’s take a moment and visualize Jesus. Let’s think about what it must have been like when He was walking through the mountainside that is described in Matthew 8. He was just walking on an ordinary day. He was probably hungry or thirsty or even tired from the walk. Maybe He was more like me and was thinking about His to-do list or how He needed to meet with someone later in the day. All of a sudden, here comes a man, out of nowhere, and kneels at Jesus’s feet and says, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”  This moment marks me because Jesus had a decision to make. He could have kept walking, not believing that He had anything for the man, or He could believe everything that the Father said to Him and about Him, which was that He was the hope of glory.

So Jesus did what sometimes I don’t: He stops. I would like to imagine that He knelt down to be at eye level with the kneeling man. I would imagine that the look that He gave the man with leprosy melted his heart because when you look into the compassionate eyes of Jesus, you start to burn from the fiery love that lives in His eyes. Wow, that love; it is so tangible. I see Jesus kneel down, look into the man’s eyes, and then John 8:3 says that He reached out, touched him, and said, “I am willing. Be clean!”

He was willing. That is it. He was willing to act on the belief that He had the hope of glory for this desperate leper. Jesus gave us the example of the Kingdom being at hand (Mark 1:15). The Kingdom of Heaven is in your hand. The Kingdom of Heaven, the hope of glory, that is Christ Jesus is in your hand ready to be released into the world and to the people that are searching for the very glory they were created to live in.

A few weeks ago, I was traveling to a conference and found myself wandering around the airport waiting for a connecting flight. I had forgotten a few items and found myself in an overpriced airport store requesting help from a young lady working at the register. She helped me find what I was looking for and quickly checked me out.

As I left the store, I heard the Holy Spirit say to go back and pray for her. I turned around, but she had a customer. So I walked some more and circled back to the store. As I returned, she was going on break, and I told her that I felt like I was supposed to pray for her. She was stunned but said yes. I began to pray over her, and the Lord started to pour out His love for her. He told me that she was a hard worker and how He was proud of her and how she loved people despite the fact that they didn’t always show her the same love. She was so thankful for the prayer and said it was all true.

I started to tell her that I felt that the Lord was pursuing her and that He loved her deeply. I asked her if she had a relationship with Jesus to which she responded that she prayed to Him. I began to tell her my salvation testimony. I told her that she could pray to receive Jesus into her heart if she wanted to, and she quickly responded with a “yes!”

We then tucked ourselves away in a corner of the airport, and she gave her life to Jesus. I told her how she was a new creation, and I welcomed her into her forever Kingdom family.

That same morning before I left for the airport, I asked Holy Spirit if I had forgotten anything. He spoke to my heart and told me to bring one of my Bibles. I typically don’t carry that one with me, but I obeyed. As soon as my new friend gave her life to Jesus, I heard the Holy Spirit say, “Now give her the Bible and tell her how it will renew her mind. Tell her how the new has come and the old has passed away.” She was in shock of the detailed love that Jesus had for her, as the Bible was even in her favorite color.

That entire encounter was a total of ten minutes of my life, but it added eternal time to that young woman’s life. We are the hope of glory that is Christ Jesus, and He wants nothing more than to come out of us and grab hold of those around us. We just have to be willing to stop and give away what we freely have received just like Jesus did with everyone He encountered.

Watermarked Ministries exists to equip, train, disciple, and release believers marked by the Holy Spirit so that the world will know who their Heavenly Father is through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We do this by teaching identity, authority, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Our hearts are to help equip the body of Christ for the works of services and do this both locally and internationally through conferences, workshops, and small group settings. Our goal is to come along side churches, ministries, and community leaders and compliment what they are already doing to impact the Kingdom by equipping them to walk confidently in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
