We all remember this verse, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord.” (Zechariah 4: 6)
This verse has been used on many occasions, but I believe with all of my heart, it’s a now promise for today, as the church starts rebuilding for the Kingdom purposes of God.
The book of Zechariah was written as an encouragement and motivation to complete the rebuilding of the temple. The Lord said that if Judah would return to Him, He would return to them. This is a book that reveals the glorious future that awaits God’s people.
There is a call going forth to return to the Lord, to complete the building in us, as the temples of the Lord, building here on earth the Kingdom of God.
One of the visions of Zechariah was this: “I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lights in it, with seven channels to the lights. Also, there were two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left. (Zechariah 4: 2-3)
Commentaries disclosed that this bowl was a large bowl that served as a bountiful reservoir of oil. The seven channels to the lights conveyed (transported) the oil from the bowl to the lamps. Yes, an abundant supply symbolizing the fullness of God’s power through His Spirit. The number seven is an abundance of light shining from the lamps, in completeness; since the number seven indicates complete. The olive trees represent the priestly and royal offices of a continual supply of oil.
We need the Holy Spirit’s abundant supply of oil to be poured out.
These priestly and royal offices are supplied from the power of the Holy Spirit. The abundance of oil never runs dry. Man does get dry and weary, but the Spirit does not for it’s connected to the abundnt supplier, Jesus Himself.
Kingdom-minded believers know that this is a promise assuring the enablement from the Holy Spirit, not by man’s might nor man’s power.
What about the lampstand? This solid gold lampstand with the light is the reflection of God’s glory–all of this only made possible by the power of God’s Spirit, His holy oil.
Zechariah then speaks of a mountain he sees and proclaims level ground. It is only by faith in the power of the Holy Spirit can obstacles come down. The figurative mountain could have included opposition, or an unwillingness to persevere.
Did you notice that the oil is now called the golden oil? Glorious Holy Spirit oil made golden because of the purifying glory of our God, poured out into His kingdom vessels, vessels of honor.
Man can only know God’s will with the Holy Spirit living inside. The Holy Spirit can only live in His holy vessels. Adam and Eve, before they fell, were full of God, the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. However, sin corrupted them, cutting off and breaking their connection with the heavenly realm. Everything got reversed at that point. Man still on the earth, called to dominate it, but now the earth dominated them. Since the Spirit of God left them, another spirit stepped in, an ungodly spirit.
Yes, Jesus Christ came and the Holy Spirit returned to earth to dwell in man, for the first time since Adam and Eve.
This Jesus, fully God, yet fully man came to us with the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
“For in Christ all the fullness of the deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is head over every power and authority.” (Colossians 2: 9-10)
Kingdom-sons and daughters understand we have been given fullness IN Christ. Everything we need is IN Christ!
KINGDOM PRINCIPLE: Let the power of God be released through the fullness of the Holy Spirit as we walk out life in the Spirit.
