AIN’T NO GRAVE

BETHEL MUSIC & MOLLY SKAGGS

Written by Molly Skaggs / Jonathan David Helser / Melissa Helser

With its gospel roots, Ain’t No Grave was a bit of a departure for Bethel Music. Molly Skaggs collaborated with Bethel’s Jonathan David and Melissa Helser to write this powerful anthem of victory, incorporating the chorus of a song written by Claude Ely almost eight decades earlier.

The song, recorded with Molly leading vocals, was included on Bethel’s 11th album entitled VICTORY. Bethel’s Bethany Wohrle led Ain’t No Grave on this recording in Dallas as part of the 2019 VICTORY TOUR

Considering Ain’t No Grave‘s style difference, members of Bethel were somewhat unsure how the song would be received on the tour. They quickly discovered that the song “brought down the house” at every venue as a unified declaration of triumph.

Here is the singer-songwriter’s own take on the song:

This is an anthem for anyone who is ready to follow Jesus and walk out of the graves in their daily life. “Ain’t No Grave” is a testimony of faith, a song for those who are ready to shake off the victim mentality and stand up in the truth of who they really are. — Molly Skaggs
