We know when it comes to being a better creative, one of the best things we can do is to soak up knowledge. Sometimes, we don’t have to make all the wrong choices before we make the right one. Sometimes, we can learn from someone who’s been around the block before.

Gary Wilson has been a professional artist since 1969 with over 45 years of teaching experience. He’s participated in workshops, art festivals, and has been a leader in the local church. And now, he’s sharing some of his most valuable lessons in a broadcast series called “Conversations with Gary Wilson.”

Filmed by his son and founder of Wanderlust Productions, Darren Wilson, “Conversations with Gary Wilson” is a four-part series capturing the elder Wilson’s personal history as a life-long creative. The videos, ranging from 6 to 11 minutes each, concentrate on a particular question as the camera then focuses on Gary’s in-depth answer.

Filmed informally in his art studio and home, Gary unveils the highlights and learning curves from his career. He remembers when God used his artwork for ministry, when he learned a big lesson about humility, and what he’s discovered about generational inheritance.

But it’s not only about his testimony. “Conversations with Gary Wilson” informs and encourages creatives, too. The veteran artist shares his brainstorming process and sketchbook. He explains the difference between Christian artwork and artists who are Christian. And he even teaches how all of us are creative, and once we have Christ inside us anything we produce is a product of His glory.

In order of publication, the video titles are listed as followed: “Is There Such a Thing as Christian Art?,” “Biggest Regret.” “How Do You Get Ideas,” and “Examples of Work.” To watch the first episode in this series, click here.
