Becoming Fulfilled in Your Purpose

His plan and purpose is the only thing that fulfills.

Are you feeling fulfilled in your purpose?  What satisfies and fulfills you?  Is it a certain economic status you want to reach; or is it a specific type of vehicle to drive?  Perhaps it’s a title or notoriety of some kind you want to achieve?  Do these accomplishments satisfy every longing in your heart?

We all have dreams, goals, and desires in mind to fulfill.  But the question is, do they fulfill us deep within?

The older I get, the more I long for the fulfillment, a satisfying peace, that comes from within.  With age, everything changed!  The things that used to be very important to me, are not so important any longer.

If you are looking for fulfillment and purpose, we have been given a promise that we can learn from.

Here it is:  “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me: your love, O Lord, endures forever–do not abandon the works of your hands.”  (Psalm 138: 8)

I find it interesting that purpose and love are linked together in this verse.  Ya gotta love what ya do.  When God’s purpose is upon our life, His love permeates through that purpose!

If you’re lost, unsettled, and looking for direction, then this promise is for you:

“Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence?  If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.  If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me; your right hand will hold me fast.”  (Psalm 139:  7-10)

Even in times of navigating through life, God’s presence is there.  No matter how far I run, He’s there.  Even in times of desolation and desertion, He is there.  He’s not only there, He’s extending His hand for us to take and be guided by.  Learn to look in His direction, He’ll show us the way!

If you’ve ever wondered why you are born, here’s your promise:

“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body.  All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”  (Psalm 139: 15-16)

  • God not only saw you, but He marked you as His ordained and wrote them down.

What book is God talking about here?

It’s the heavenly royal register of God’s decisions.  Pondering on this fact, I found another cross-reference to this scripture:  “Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll–are they not in your record?”  (Psalm 56: 8)

Yes, in our days of weeping, our tears are recorded.  They are not only recorded but they are also collected!  Some of us have buckets and buckets collected!

Everything we have encountered in life is recorded.  All of the heartache, all of the pain in life, are matters recorded and calling for God’s action.  There’s still more to be written

Our life span was Sovereignly determined by our God!  Our days are ordained by Him!

How should we respond to that?  “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully  made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  (Psalm 139: 14)

Fulfillment comes when we know full well that we are living out His will with our will.

Do you know that deep inside?  Do you know the fulfillment that comes deep within, that only occurs, when we are carrying out the plan and purpose of God?

His plan and purpose is the only thing that fulfills.

Until we align our will with His, we will not be satisfied.  How many adults are not fulfilled in their careers?  How many people achieve and accomplish their goals, but still are feeling unfulfilled?

How can we change that?  Turn and ask for guidance on your purpose and where you are to land!  In your search, search for the purpose of God in your life and watch the fulfillment and satisfaction happen.  Our God longs to satisfy.

“He satisfies our desires with good things.”  (Psalm 103: 5a)

If you are feeling you’re too old, this verse finishes with,  “…So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”  (Psalm 103: 5b)

An eagle has a proverbial unflagging strength.  Isaiah said it this way, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”  (Isaiah 40: 31)

It’s time to walk…

It’s time to run…

It’s time to soar…

Grab hold of His hope and let’s be renewed and fulfilled.  It’s not going to happen any other way!

KINGDOM PRINCIPLE:  Grab a hold of His hope.  Begin by walking and running in His direction, then watch yourself take flight.  Arising and shining will occur as you soar!
