Be a Flame

Allow His fire to burn in and through you for the whole world to see.

So the Light of Israel will be for a fire, and His Holy One for a flame; it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day. Isaiah 10:17

Fire is something that can be either good or bad, bringing about something that one wants or something that is not wanted. It can warm a person up on a cold night when under control and used correctly, or it can destroy a home and land when out of control. Fire can also provide light, which reveals things that are hidden in the dark.

Isaiah writes about Jesus that, He, the Light of Israel will be a fire and a flame that will burn and devour all the thorns and briers in one day.

The world is focused on pleasing the self in whatever way desired and possible. With this, sinful acts, thoughts, and attitudes are promoted as good and needed. No matter where one goes, there is sin that is lifted up and pushed upon every person.

While this is nothing new, it is something that has crept into the church more and more. Churches that at one time took a stand against sin are now accepting sinful lifestyles.

Jesus came to remove all sin. His holiness and righteousness burn like a fiery flame to consume sin and remove it from all who trust in Him. In the same way, believers are to be just like Jesus, on fire for God consuming and destroying sin in their own lives and exposing it in others for it to be removed.

Living on fire for God will mean that one is a bright flame that is hot for God. Sin in one’s own life will be revealed and dealt with, removed when there is repentance and forgiveness. One will live differently than the world and will be a threat to their way of living, bringing conviction and repentance, drawing others to Christ.

God is an all-consuming fire who desires to be a part of your life. Jesus is the Light of the world that is a fire that can burn up and remove all sin in your life. Allow His light to reveal any sin and then repent of that sin. Then allow His fire to burn in and through you for the whole world to see. Let His fire consume your neighborhood through you drawing others to Him and burning up sinful lifestyles that are being lifted up and promoted.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the fire of God in your life; that you will allow the fire of God to burn in and through you; and that God will burn up sinful habits in your life.
