I understand in a theological sense that none of us deserve God’s goodness, that’s why it’s called goodness, not fair compensation.
This book opens our eyes to the enduring relevance of songs that have been sung for hundreds of years.
Adversity, suffering, persecution as difficult as they are, as unqualified as I feel to even say this, are opportunities for the worthiness of Jesus to be put on display.
When a church locks arms to advance the kingdom of God, its relationships become a well-spring of God-given joy.
But joy, because we are IN CHRIST, is permanent because we are never OUT of Christ.
One of the things I love about the book of Philippians is the very backdrop and beginning of this church is joy-filled confidence, despite circumstances, because of the work of God.
Paul tells us that genuine love is rooted in God’s objective truth. And the more we grow in our knowledge of God, the more loving we become.
Being a slave to Christ doesn’t mean Christ needs our “labor.”
Yes, life is hard, but you can live with confident joy because God is going to finish what he started in you.
