Assured Treasures Needing to Be Discovered

Posted on

The older I get the more I am coming to realize the abundance of such treasure in the Word of God.  I am discovering things I have never seen before, ever.

As I was scanning verses relating to the sand, there is one that jumped out saying, “They will feast on the abundance of the seas, on the treasures hidden in the sand.”  Deuteronomy 33: 19

My thoughts, immediately, went to seeing men and women walking the shores of the beach with metal detectors, looking for hidden treasures.

KINGDOM ASSURANCE:   There are hidden treasures lost beneath, needing to be discovered and recovered.

What was the hidden treasure, in this scripture, referring to?  What type of abundance was indicated?

This proclamation was released by Moses, when this man of God was pronouncing a blessing, on the Israelite tribes before his death.

One of the tribes listed was of Zebulun, the sixth son of Leah and Jacob, whose name means “honor.”

Jacob, like Moses, was blessing his sons before he died.  He prophesies about Zebulun, that “He will live by the seashore and become a haven for ships; his border will extend toward Sidon.”  Genesis 49: 13

Well, Zebulun’s descendants were within ten miles of the Mediterranean Sea.

I found an interesting phrase about this blessing.  It said that “All of the twelve tribes of Israel were established when Jacob blessed each one to “appropriate him.”

KINGDOM POINT:  Blessings spoken over our lives, are prophecies awaiting to be “appropriated.”   If you are still waiting, remember there is a timing of being established and appropriated.

How does one feast on this established abundance and treasure?  Let’s learn about Zebulun to understand the promises.

Who Was Zebulun?   He was one of the six tribes chosen to stand on Mt. Ebal and pronounce curses. (Deuteronomy 27: 13)

Ooh yuk!   Who wants to be known like that?  Obviously, he was not responding fully to what God had told him and was, let’s say, “straying” from his calling.  He followed his own path, but eventually returned to God and now followed His commands.

Sounds like some of us, who walked the path of rebellion before we walked the path of obedience to our fulfilled blessing and destiny.

KINGDOM POINT: If you have wayward children on their own path, don’t lose hope; remember  Zebulun returned.

After his returnZebulun participated in battles led by Deborah and Barak.  He also joined David to transfer Saul’s kingdom to David.  He finally learned to walk with those who were walking with God.

KINGDOM POINT:  Learning to walk with those who can mentor us, is one type of hidden treasure.  As we treasure our relationship with them, that which was hidden is being discovered.

KINGDOM ASSURANCE:  God’s love for us always leads us back into communion with Him in compliance with His will.  He often uses others to lead us and teach us.

Zebulun’s territory was located in Galilee, in northern Israel.  The prophet Isaiah speaks about the coming Messiah and about the future of Galilee. Here it is:

Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress.  In the past, he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future, he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan.”  Isaiah 9: 1

This prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus ministered mostly in the area of Galilee.

Here Are Some Facts About Galilee:

  • Jesus begins to preach in Galilee.  He lived in Capernaum, which was a sizable town in Jesus’ day.
  • Peter’s house became the base of operations during His extended ministry in Galilee.
  • Most of Jesus’ public ministry was in Galilee.
  • Galilee was the place of abundance on the sea.
  • The turning of the sea, echo’s His Majesty.
  • It was in Galilee where fishermen were made, “fishers of men.”
  • It was the place of being “called.”

IN GALILEE, miracles happened.  “Throughout Galilee Jesus taught in synagogues, preaching the good news of the Kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”  Matthew 4: 23

IN GALILEE:  Jesus gathered and taught the multitudes. It was here where The Beatitudes, The Sermon On The Mount, calls for his people moral and ethical living, to be a life IN Christ, and not to the law.

Prior to Jesus going into Galilee He was in the wilderness confronted by satan.  It was the beginning of His ministry and the end of being tormented.  It was said, “The devil left Him and angels came and attended Him.”  Matthew 4: 11

KINGDOM POINT:  Whenever God is calling you, His angels shall attend and accompany you.

What led Jesus to this region in the first place?  It was the imprisonment of John the Baptist that led Jesus there.  “When Jesus heard that John had been in prison, He returned to Galilee.”  Matthew 4: 12

KINGDOM POINT:  Captivity will lead you eventually to a place of abundance, to the way to the sea.  It’s the way from living in darkness, to seeing and living in the Light, for a Light has dawned.  (Matthew 4: 13-16)  Jesus is The Light and The Living of Water.

After hearing of John’s imprisonment, it says, “From that time on Jesus began to preach, Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is near.”  Matthew 4: 17   Jesus begins His pubic ministry with the same message that of John the Baptist.

KINGDOM WISDOM:  Imprisonment sometimes leads us to our calling and fulfillment of that calling.  What seems like the end for some, can be the beginning for another.  The plan of God cannot be thwarted.

Jesus returned to Galilee.  He was about to ‘turn around’ things in that location.

  • Hold on, if you are waiting for a ‘turn around.’

KINGDOM ASSURANCE:  There is abundance and blessing following our hardships and trials.  There are hidden treasures beneath our feet, beneath our circumstances, that are leading us into abundance.

Jesus was walking into His abundant living, His ministry, of where He was called.  The Sea of Galilee is a beautiful lake, almost 700 feet below sea level, which is fed by the waters of the upper Jordan River.

KINGDOM POINT:  Being positioned below your operating level, can lead and feed you into your place of abundance.  The waters of the Jordan are a place of being baptized and fully immersed.

The statement that Jesus used when building His team (disciples) was, “Come, follow Me.  I will make you fishers of men.”  Mark 1: 17

Having gone to the Sea of Galilee myself, was one of my favorite places in Israel.

It was the place where Jesus walked on the water.

It was the place Jesus calmed the storm.

It was the place that He chose to return to, after the resurrection, to meet again with His disciples.

When Jesus returned to that place, He was making sure that His friends, His disciples, were not displaced.

  • The sea level once below now was a place that catapulted above.

The very sand and ground that Jesus walked upon, became the hidden treasure of preparing and casting nets.

What lies beneath this place of abundance, this beautiful sea, this body of water?  SAND lies beneath.
